Anybody know or been to any good camping sites around the Sacramento area within a 1-2 hour drive. Something that has a lake or something to swim in also do you have to reserve, if so usually how much in advance. Thanks any input is appreciated

Lake camanche is real nice, you can reserve for campsites or just for day use. I usually get the group campsite at north shore right in front of the lake. decent prices, just google for more info if you want

What kind of camping? How far away from people do you want to be? 4x4 only camp sites?

Camanche = is FULL of parolees and ghetto folk from stockon and the bay.
But we camp on the last 6 penniseula sites which are directly on the water so our boats are right there. And we are secluded from the rift raft.

My vote is ice house ( was just up there last weekend! The lake is beautiful and glass, perfect for wakeboarding. I'm heading to sly park this weekend.

Bullards bar. Dark day campgrounds is nice because it is shaded the whole day. Launch ramp is walking distance. Reservations are required.

Also on ice house is Fashoda. Funny ass name but pretty remote and definately a different type of camping experience. I've been there twice and will probably go again. Can't park cars on campsite overnight. Non-flushing toilets. And bears do roam the campgrounds. Really quite place and close to water.

Pardee is right by my property and is awesome. The ONLY thing that sucks is that you cant swim in the water BUT there are two big ass pools to swim in and the camp site is never crowded. It is a well kept secret. The fishing there is awesome too. I seen Walleye in the lake also.
Nice camp sites, clean no foul smells. Great showers if you need ( I shower in my camper ) no heavy vehicle traffic. Plenty of b cue pits.
Great place.
