My 2007 Nissan Altima was totalled out by my insurance company but I don't agree with the amount they are giving me. They have offered $10,280 but I think I should be given blue book value since the mileage was at 63,000 miles and was in prestine condition. The car is a California clean tittle but was salvaged in michigan(stolen recovery). How do they determine the value of a salvage vehicle? He will not budge on his offer and I will not accept the offer either. I am losing 1,220, i just purchased the car in january. They do not want to pay for my sound system and clothes, shoes and othe misc things i had in the vehicle

not much you can really do except show them blue book value, and how much other similar vehicles are selling for and hope they budge. less your deductible too, and unless you were paying extra insurance to cover other items in or bought for the vehicle, they will not cover those

Take his check then switch companies. Then you can ask him if the 1,100$ was worth a life long customer.

SALVAGE.

Read again, SALVAGE TITLE.

Read the above again. You are asking too much by wanting CLEAN title value for a previously salvaged car.. Personal property left in the car (like your shoes and clothes) are not covered by your auto insurance, this would fall under homeowners/renters insurance but unless it was a HUGE loss I wouldn't say its worth claiming.

Did you disclose the additional sound equipment when you purchased the policy and pay the extra premium to cover the aftermarket stuff? Without it the policy contract is only required to pay for the car as it came stock.

On average salvaged cars usually are valued at 50-70% of a clean titled equivalent car but I'm not a claims adjuster so I couldn't tell you for certain.

Insurance companies have access to a database, I thine LexisNexis, which with the simple VIN will let them know it carries a salvage title. Not sure if it works for cars outside of CA too, but I know that's the case here.

Just went through this with a totaled car. What State Farm did was value my car based on comparable cars for sale in my area. Luckily for me, everything they looked at was selling higher than blue book. They then adjusted the price based on the condition of my vehicle. They then added in the price of tax, license, etc. So I ended up getting a little less than double what blue book was for my Ford Escape.

In your case, however, the salvage title really hurts the value. Figure 15%-20% below market value. Ask them to send you paperwork detailing how they determine the value of your car.

10k for salvage title altima. Fuck thats a good deal to me. But again I went trough that before. And blue book value is nothing now a days. Its base on sale in your area like it was said above.
What u could do it take stuff from your car thats good and sale it on the side.

IDK how that was possible. I didn't carfax it that was my mistake. The california pink slip doesn't have anuthing in the history box.

my california tittle doesn't say "salvage"
Car was never in an accident it was a stolen recovery. Insurance sent me the vehicle history. My car was set on fire, according to the police it was called in as an explosion. Had "XIV" scrapped on the car.

Part of the reason I wont settle the adjuster is an asshole, doesn't return my calls, didn't talk to me about the offer he just sent me paperwork and told me to sign and send it back. I have rental car coverage through my insurance its 10days/$250 max he called me on the 7th day told me to return the car but I was working a late shift, it was impossible to return it that day. I was charged $52 for the 8th day. I tell him that I don't agree with the offer, he says send me adds of cars in your area that are the same year and approximately same mileage. I did that. Lowest I found was 13,200 same mileage clean tittle. Its bristol west insurance. I should've stayed with AAA.

I would take the money and run. If they investigate and find out the car is a salvaged, you'll be lucky to even get $500 out off them.
