It's actually in pretty decent shape. looks complete for the most part. Have to put some of the panels back on etc, but nothing major

I used the $ I was going to use to buy a T56, but someone bought the last reasonably priced one I saw

Does it still have the 'Hot Air' motor? If so, get that thing converted to the 86/87 intercooled motor and have a blast!
Keep a close eye on it, as these things are targeted by thieves just like a foxbody. Welcome to the Turbo Buick world ![[patriot]](graemlins/patriot.gif) [ 2013-05-05, 08:26 PM: Message edited by: Rigo5.0 ]

Yeah it's still setup with the hot air. I'm contemplating how I want to set it up. First I have to learn about the nuances of this car and these motors etc, but it's going to get an intercooler for sure. I did see an 86/87 GN Complete Turbo/Intercooler setup, but it was damn near as much as I paid for this car, so that's most likely not gonna happen.

I believe 'Spearco' has an intercooler setup for the Hot Air (not cheap though). You might be better off buying a front mount and fabricating your own setup. ALKY is also another option.
There is plenty of great info on TurboBuick.com, and you definitely want to spend some time browsing here -

Awesome resources thank you. Looks like the spearco kit is about $1k... still less than(nearly half) the 86/87 setup I saw

This one is staying mostly original. Will do some mods to make it quicker of course, but nothing too extreme

Lol, it was kinda iffy at first cuz it had a lot of garbage in it and all the interior trim was in the trunk etc and I bought it at night, but it turned out to be well worth the risk. Gonna detail the exterior tomorrow and likely do a tune up on Friday. Plugs/wires, oil change, pcv etc. Anything you recommend changing otherwise?

Use Autolite spark plugs and gap at .035. While you're at it, I'd change the fuel filter (probably never been changed).

I was thinking NGKsince they have less resistance. Thanks for the tip on the fuel filter I totally forgot about that. Any idea where it's at? I havent had a chance to look under the car yet. Also has an exhaust leak. Any common area that leaks?

NGK is fine. I had a bad experience with those plugs on my Cobra and stopped using them. Some TB owners have also reported having a better idle with the Autolites. Fuel filter is on the driver side in front of the rear wheel.Exhaust leaks are probably cracked manifolds or loose downpipe.

NGK copper has always done well in my other cars and with a lower resistance it should help get maximum spark to the cylinder. I did try some platinum plugs in one of my old mustangs and it didn't like them at all. All kinds of misfires and ran like crap. Ever since then I just stick to copper plugs.
I'm crossing my fingers that the exhaust leak is something simple like the down pipe or a small hole in the exhaust because changing an exhaust manifold or exhaust manifold gasket doesn't look like a fun job. I've become spoiled with my Mustang ever since I installed the tubular k member the exhaust is really easy to work on.
Looks like my pan gasket is what's leaking. Any ideas if you can remove it easily without having to remove a ton of stuff? I haven't had a chance to put it on my buddies lift yet.
