So the guy posts from Afghanistan, happy thanksgiving while the people that work in retail are striking because they don't get the day off on a busy shopping day?

Good job for Walmart employees. That company is a straight slave driving machine. People shouldn't support companies like that.

I don't get it? It's the job they chose to apply for and the fact that you have one in this economy is something to be thankful for. I agree on wanting better pay, benefits and all that good stuff but Wal-Mart is not union and when you say fuck it and dont go to work you're gonna get fired. Now you're gonna cry becouse you have no christmas.

Same shit. Both get told what to do, and work for people who dont care about them or their families. It's sad.

Yeah they work at Wal Mart, yeah they probably made a lot of bad choices in their lives that got them there. But they are WORKING and doing everything they can to eek out what it sounds to be a miserable living. If they have the balls to finally strike, there's no way I'm going to walk past them and shop.
The worlds #1 retailer should at least have a decent job to work at.

Wow, Wal Mart really sucks! I had no idea they were making employees stay in a job they don't like. Does Wall Mart think they are running a gulag there. We are getting more and more like the old USSR. Next thing you know we'll have a dictator running the country!

Wal Mart employee quote:
"Employees like Josue Mata, 28, an immigrant from Mexico who is divorced and a father of four, voiced his dissatisfaction with the new hours. He told WFAA.com, a Dallas station, that he makes $8.70 an hour cleaning floors."
I'm sure he'd have it better in Mexico. I think they are paying 25 cents an hour to clean floors. Maybe the guy should have kept his dick in his pants and found something better to do that paid more before he popped out 4 kids.
"The holiday is time you need to spend with your family," he said, while taking part in a small protest near Fort Worth. "You have 365 other days to have a sale. It's really pointless. It's all about money."
All about the money? No shit Sherlock! What do you think they're in it for, good will? And maybe police and firemen and soldiers and pilots and air traffic controllers and doctors and nursies and thousands of other job descriptions would like to spend time with their famailes also during the holidays!

Anyone that is picketing needs to be slapped. If you don't like your job quit, if your not happy with the pay then work harder fire a promotion or a raise. If you're boot happy with how you view the employees or what they pay them then don't apply. Your pay and what is expected of you if told to you when your hired at any job is not a suprise.
If you want to make more than minimum wage then get a skill set that earns that higher pay. You don't make 100k working a part time job as a cashier

what gets me is im reading they have "miserable working conditions"
they work in a climate controlled building
i got called in twice the last 2 days to work , in what i might possibly consider miserable if it was colder out
wet, cold, muddy...... all that water is gonna be the hole i have to get in
no offense but, but if looking all melancholy at the door, or misdirecting me elsewhere in walmart for 20 hours a week constitutes you making the same wage as some people with a masters degree...... well.... welcome to "MOTHER RUSSIA"

We'll put it up in front of Wal Mart and at the employment office. to you.

^^Damn hanging out in a muddy hole! looks like ur having fun..lol
I spent thanksgiving and christmas in Iraq twice, and many other holidays, birthdays and anniversaries away from home over the past 13 years as a Marine. Like i said in my last post they chose that job just like i chose mine, my point being is if your boss says you gotta work and you want to keep your job, then get your ass to work. but...honestly? i ENJOY what i do i get paid ok, good benefits, lots of time off (lazy city workers)
but i think i earn what i make too, in february at 2 am when the tools freeze to your gloves and the pumps keep freezing its no picnic
and i am currently changing jobs, start with a new city next week. our current contract sucked to me, i felt it was a "take it or leave it" offer, so im leaving it
same work, different place, more money, im not bitching....just finding work that i consider adequate

See now that's what anybody should do when they aren't happy in their current job...find a new one. I've had jobs I wasn't happy with also so I did something really crazy, I LOOKED FOR A NEW ONE! And while I was looking I kept my big fat mouth shut about the one I was in or I'd get fired then and there. That was the good old days.

I will gladly work holidays so others with families can stay home. 18hrs each day is what I knocked out.
Dinner can wait I have to make enough to put that dinner on table first.
Its the problem with society these days everyone wants something for nothing.
