Two years ago my dad gets a pink slip in the mail, and opens it on Christmas Day. Last year his mom (aka my grandma) passed away 5 days before Christmas. I was hell bent on making the holidays good for the fam this year....I just got a phone call that my mom's dad passed away today, so now instead of turkey and black friday, it looks like we're flying down to Mexico. Holidays are apparently not meant for my family as of late...

That's shitty, I'm sorry man. A string of bad birthdays when i was real young made me regret birthdays ever since.i still to this day am interested in my birthday. Don't let this stuff get you down.you need to be the one to be solid, and pay your respects then be happy about life, and the people you have around you.
Things will work out for you, focus on the good and surround yourself with it.

Sorry to hear the passing of your family member. Life is just life, live enjoy day by day and try making it your best. Ever since I started working at the hospital a year ago I haven't enjoy the holidays with my fam. It's hard for my wife to understand at times.
