Any mustang coupe or hatchback can be good for drifting..But the biggest issue is the wheel man..If you have handles you can accomplish it.But if you don't have handles dont try it.. [patriot]

+1 I agree..But sometimes it could end up in catastrophic failure...But you are right it doesn't hurt to try... [Big Grin] [Big Grin]

Just so I can actually give you an answer my OPINION on what chassis variation would most benefit in drifting would be a coupe. Not only is it lighter than the hatchback car (proven by many drag racers and old car mag reviews) by some 200lbs which helps in your power to weight ratio I would think a car that is all on piece with minamal extra body parts to be stiffer. We all know a vert is flimsy because it has no solid roof I would think a hatch would be more flimsy than a coupe because of the amount of body missing. A coupe is complete body whereas a hatch has a whole rear section missing.

not if he plans on driving it on the street..thats a lot of pain in the ass when you could basicly buy a stock mustang gut it, throw some 4:10's out back, coupla suspension pieces and drive it without worry!!! [Wink]

A caged hatchback would be ideal, since its heavier in the back it has better weight distribution. But my coupe does pretty good, check the sonoma drift vids in the drifting section. Either car will work, just drop weight from the front (fiberglass hood, alum. heads, delete smog&a/c, etc.) and add weight to the rear (battery relocation, etc.)

what stan said about weight distribution is majorly correct. more rear weight to counter the front weight. u can put weights in th eback of the coupe if u wish. steering angle is much more the issue at hand, but every lil bit helps.

the drift event out here at infinoen is a big parking lot with red cones. u loose control, u spin out in a parking lot, and a big oh well. if some how u flip, they have safety crews and a fire truck ambulance on point and ready. infinion has the most anal and most up to par staff and safety tech and safety crew available. mandatory helmet. and i think roll cages are going to be a must very soon.

Install a couple kill switches (one for fuel, one for spark) and/or take parts off every time you walk away from it

taking parts off the stang every time i parked it is the only way i kept mine living in south sac off florin for 2yrs. just about every mustang that was around that area got jacked. id still get a lo jack for the fuck of it. i heard of people with tow trucks come in and swoop shit, its the only sure fire way!! a regular alarm is all it takes to stop a thief, ive told everyone on here to do it. thief's are cowards acting in the comfort of shadows and quietness. a alarm that works is all it takes.

ill agree to a certain extent, but if your not around to take action...most people hear an alarm and blow it off. if an alarm is the only thing your doin better make it a two way with a pager!! i still emphasize lo jack!! [worship]

I had a club, alarm, kill switch, and had it in my driveway near a window and still got jacked. In my opinion, an alarm is not enough. It definitely was not enough in my case.
