What a game against the packers! We are looking good. The NFL needs the refs back because these replacements are no bueno.

Even with the bad calls on both teams by the refs Im glad the end game did not come down to the officiating staffs "sound judgement". The 49ers dominated on both sides of the ball.

Im ready for next week when the Niners handle the Lions!

who on the 49ers schedule do you think will give the them the most trouble?




even with the Saints, Patriots, Lions and the Giants still on the schedule, I think the Seahawks will give the Niners a run for their money this season.

Seahawks, with a improved D and with them being division rivals, I see two games that are gonna be hard fought to the end.....but I still dont see the Seahawks taking the division from us.

New england, new orleans, giants, and detroit is out for revenge next week.

Otherwise it's going to take another strong defense or high powered offense to take us down. It's still early so we don't know who's defense is going to come through yet.

The 49ers did a great job of controlling the game. Did t blow them out but didn't let them gain any momentum after a score. Good game but I'd like to see them improve in the red zone more.

Offensively or defensively?

Because the the first time the Lions got in the red zone offensively was in the 4th quarter.

Our offense did a decent job in the red zone, just there were several drives where Alex Smith was on the money but the balls were dropped by the receivers.

I was very happy with the way the 49ers D played. They shut down the Lions passing game and couldn't even run very well on them.

I know some people are upset guys like Moss aren't getting the passes they think they should be getting. But think of it this way, if you can beat a team without having to use a lot of your offensive play book...... Your going to be able to use more of those plays later in the season. I also think they are keeping Moss healthy for the post season games. I think Moss is gonna have at least one blowout game this year when nobody expects it.

49ers defense was awesome never let the lons get into a groove of any sort stafford ran for his life and they shut tHe run DOWN...49ers offensivly did ok, passed the ball which opend up the running game , very balanced attack, passes started to get dropped more towards the end of the game i felt thats when the lions got a bit of courage and scored,..@3min is when u realize 2 scores ahead mean shit ,this is the NFL, TEAMS DONT QUIT ATTACKING. 50 yrd play by lions sucked dick and should of been stopped..but at the end we got the W...i hopeour offense steps up as we moveon forward and we learn to finish games witg our D and offense just like we started them,no need to give shit away at the end

Speaking of knowing players, I have been watching the 49ers play football for so long.... I actually have watched them win their last 3 Super Bowl & have been alive for 4 of them. I've never seen the Raiders win one because I wasn't born yet & I'm 30 years old!!!!

I think everyone lost faith in Alex smith at some point in time but no one really knew how badly his potential was being held back by his coaches and coordinators. If you think Gore getting hurt will cause a major problem you're an idiot. Kendall Hunter is plenty capable of stepping up and with their great depth in the back field they can find ways to bring the run game right back up to par. This is the Niners not the Raiders, they don't rest on the shoulders of one person (McFadden). Our D is strong and works together to hold every team down, depth in receivers is greatly improved, Smith has his confidence back, plus we have an amazing kicker who consistently crushes the ball through the uprights. Niners display the definition of team effort week in and week out. Sorry to all those butthurt Raider fans, I don't see them getting more than 3 wins this year.

They cough up one turnover & got the ball back, had too many penalties IMO but all in all they played a great game.

It's crazy that in the last 2 games they have only allowed a field goal LOL. They better not let it go to their heads because we got a tough game next week.

That might be one of the best games Alex Smith has ever played. Yeah he didn't throw for 300+ yards or throw 5 TD's. But when you go 18-19 , 3 TD's and no INT's your playing at a near perfect level.
After all the crap he's been thru he deserves some respect.

I think if Smith is cleared to play he should start. I don't buy into the hype starting a inexperience QB if you really don't have to......... Just think how stupid the media and fans are gonna look if Colin starts and the 49ers are getting blown out by halftime.
Then what? Bring Alex Smith in to try and come back and win the game? I've seen that scenario happen too many times over the years in SF. Alex Smith should have the opertunity to finish out the season as the starter.

Colin Kap. Isn't ready to be the starter for at least another season or 2. I honestly think Chicago did a horrible job in prepping for that game. They didn't expect Kap to throw the ball. Now that a team like the Saints has a chance to watch FILM on his game....... He not gonna get the same kind of looks from the NO's D. Injust fant stress it enough how bad of an idea I think this is. Colin is going to be the future QB for the 49ers. He will get his chance in the future...... But dont count on a young QB to get you though tough games and win a Super Bowl with half a season experience.

I agree with you ^^^ but in case you didn't know, the Saits have the worst passing D in the league & 2nd worst running D. It might be a opportunity to let the young gun shine. The only advantage the Saits have is they are playing at home. Harbaugh will not name the starting QB until he has to. I'm good with whatever QB he starts. Alex Smith has the 3rd best rating in the league even better than T Brady.

Kaepernick avoided multiple sacks that most likely would have ended in Smith getting dropped. He made big plays on 3rd down and put the ball on the hands of every receiver. All of this in one of the most difficult venues to play in. The kid is the real deal.

I just started watching some of the highlights. Kap did play a good game..... Now after hearing Harbaugh talking about not wanting to take a risk with Alex getting hurt I feel a little better about why Kap started.

The 49ers are def in a good position with having 2 good QB's that can win games.

It honestly makes me laugh when people say Smith has earned his position as the QB for the Niners and how he led us to the playoffs last year. The defense has always been the controlling factor of 90% of these games. Smith is a game managing QB which means the play calling for him is much less aggressive than when Kaep is in the pocket. Smith has one solid season where his play calling is managed and everyone suddenly thinks he is the shit? The guy had a great game against the Saints in the playoffs, that is pretty much the only aggressively called game we've seen with him starting and that's simply because there's only so much the D can do against the a powerhouse offense that the Saints had last season. As far as I can tell Kaep is superior in every way. He has great poise in the pocket, is able to escape the pocket under pressure while still keeping his eyes down field, he has the balls to stand tall in the pocket and make a pass with a pass rusher right in his face, he has a cannon of an arm which is also accurate as hell, he is fast as f*** so running the option will provide more positive yardage than him coming in from time to time, and the guy proved that he can keep his shit together in the incredibly loud Super Dome. I get that Smith is the safe choice but Kaep is the future and shows what this team can do with a real QB to go along with that nasty D we have. Smith always seems one play away from losing his shit altogether whereas you can feel MUCH more confident with Kaep in the game whether its 3rd and long or whatever situation. All we need now is to teach the O-line that Kaep can escape the pocket and keep plays alive rather than Smith's "oh god pass rushers time to shit my pants and check down or throw it away" mentality. The holding calls alone kept them from tearing the Saints D apart, the score would have been vastly different IMO.

The niners play as close to a game that the NY Giants play out there, which is bad news for New England. Didnt they lose two superbowls to that style of play? Tom Brady will never be better than Joe Montana. Tom can never say he never lost a superbowl, just the same as Kobe will never be as good as Jordan. Jordan never lost a finals....

I'm happy that int didn't come back to bite us in the ass. I also couldn't believe how many turnovers there were in that game.

It all started when they started the prevent defense in the later part of the 3rd quarter. The prevent....prevents you fro winning. That's what almost happened and how they scored 28 unanswered points!
As soon as the defense let up this is what happened....totally unacceptable. A big win non the less

All this hate on Kaepernick cracks me up. The play calling from the sideline is what killed the offense in the second half not Kaep. Yeah he had a few throws that were off the mark but this scenario has been played out by Alex Smith as well. The niners coaching staff loves to take the foot off the gas and I knew if they did it at 31-3 Brady would come back strong. They played fantastic man to man D in the first half then all of a sudden they start playing zone? Brady runs a no huddle like a boss and it was murdering our D, I'm not at all surprised that happened, they were getting worked so damn hard they couldn't even catch a breath between each play. Then when the Niners got the ball back it was right back to defensive play calling when Kaep was throwing very well. The interception was a mistake but as far as I can tell his composure in the pocket during all the fumbled snaps and ability to overcome the interception and lead them to victory over probably the best team in the league right now makes that a moot point. Kaepernick has led the Niners to defeat the hot Bears at the time, the always tough Brees, and now the almighty Tom Brady in their most dominant month at their home field in absolute crap weather. Alex Smith is officially DONE. Get over it.....

That's the kind of stuff that worries me about the 49ers right now. I'm not trying to hate on our starting QB, just pointing out the fact that yeah the play calling wasn't as aggressive as it was in the first half. But when you have a 31 - 3 lead you should be running the ball, keeping Brady off the field and converting 3rd downs. I saw a few sacks that put the 49ers in LONG 3rd downs because Kap tried extending the play. He has a bad rookie habit of running backwards when he gets pressured. Run to the side and throw it away. Or try and run up the field at least....... That WAS one of the reason they went with him right? Being able to rush when everyone was covered down field?

We already know what we get with smith, if kap fucks up he's there to finish the season. But what we're seeing from kap is more than smith could ever give us. I think there was only 1 sack I remembered but the rest of the game kaps throws were on point and he had 4 Tds to 1 int, he won the game and his passer rating was through the roof. We're better with kap and harbaugh knew it

I'm a huge 49ers fan but they lost a lot of respect when they decided to bench Alex Smith and play Kap. The idea of " We know what we have with Smith." bs has been bothering me for weeks now.

Harbaugh has had Carols number for a minute now, I think this might be one of his first wins since USC vs Stanford a long time ago. Either way, the Niners are still in control of their destiny and can wrap up the division by beating Arizona. If they lose to AZ then this seasons a wrap in my book, that's not going to happen and the Seahawks have more than the niners to worry about beating on the road in the playoffs now that they are in for sure.


I'm just glad the NY Giants are basically done.

I honestly don't expect the 49ers to have a good year next year. Neither the Ravens or the 49ers will be back in the Super Bowl this season. Seattle is going to most likely go 7-8 at home if not 8/8, The 49ers are going to have a tough time keeping pace with Seatle.
Should be another great all around year for football. I'll be excited to see how Denver does with it new threats, RG3 should be back for the first game if not by the 2nd or 3rd, Luck will have to play his ass off to repeat what he did last year for the Colts.

I'm especially looking forward to going to the Raiders vs Kansas City game this year so I can watch Andy Reid & Alex Smith in action....... Both those guys got something to prove & I wouldn't be shocked if KC is the best improved team by the end of the season. Not saying they are winning the AFC West, but could get a wildcard game.

I'm just ready for football to start back up again.

We as fans should be able to sit back and watch the two best teams in the league battle it out!!!
