Yes, they can be a PITA to work on and there have been some things where I was glad to fork over the money to a pro. But, if you have the skills and the tools, then the cost of repairs shouldn't be too bad. This is the case for ALL German performance cars...AMGs, Ms and S. It has been a great little car, I found it easier to work on than my 97 Cobra I had. I bought a manual to do repairs and what not on the car, the only thing I paid to get done was head up display on the dash, the pixels went out due to sun damage. I have read that it is very common on all VWs.<br /><br />Rule of thumb, once you buy a used VW, Audi, and etc. Pay to get the timing belt replaced. Its the number one reason many die!<br /><br />But buy one, you will enjoy it.
