I've always wondered what lx stands for..also Gt..any one know?

I always heard LX was luxury and GT was Grand Touring.

The LX's are standard base models and the GT models are the more "performance" model.

Wrong
Ford's other LX models during that same time period had repeatedly been referred as being the luxury version. While the base Mustang had never been advertised as "luxury", unless you can prove to me otherwise, it would be safe to assume that the LX designation meant the same thing across all of Ford's lineup.
