I recently purchased a 1989 Mustang, and thought I would introduce myself. I've been previously owned a 1970 Corvette, 1972 Corvette, 1973 Corvette, 1968 Corvette, 1969 Corvette, a 2000 M6 Camaro with suspension mods, a 1968 Camaro with a sportsman fogger kit with a Doug Nash 4+1, and also a 1989 GT mustang. I just recently purchased an 89 lx. I'm trying to get this car commuter worthy.
Question for you guys. I'm looking for a factory type exhaust, and possibly OEM type mufflers. Anyone out there running this setup. For others who run other non CA friendly setups, How do you smog those things?! web page [ May 29, 2012, 11:36 PM: Message edited by: TMA Turbo Donald ]

Welcome to the site. For a commuter don't worry about doing aftermarket exhaust. It's better not to draw the extra attention that these things get. You can run an aftermarket catback without any smog issues.

If your gonna commute leave the exhaust stock. Nothing is worse than the 2k rpm drone.

It currently has a shortys, catted x pipe with flowmasters. I would actually prefer a stock exhaust for commuting purposes.

I'd get some Dynomax Super Turbos if you want close to stock quiet. Magnaflows are pretty quiet too, but still have the nice deep tone to em. Welcome to the board

Walker was the O.E. supplier to Ford for exhausts, and Dynomax is a Walker brand. A Dynomax cat back exhaust with the Super Turbo mufflers is as close to stock as you will get. For the mid pipe a MagnaFlow 4 cat x pipe is as close as you can get to being completely smog legal.
Nice purchase, I was considering that car for myself, but three white hatches may have been too many, lol. [ May 30, 2012, 02:40 AM: Message edited by: phildog ]
