Ok so years ago my dads uncle gave him a nice 9mm ok he drove down from southern cali to sj with his guns older guy he had paper work for all his guns long story short he gave him the gun told him to protect the family never did any transfer of ownership or paper work for it well his uncle passed about 5years ago the question is can I tranfer the gun to my name I currently dont have a firearms license but looking forward in getting one how can I go about this? Goto any gun shop and take the hand gun safety test it's 20 or 25 buck's and is good for 5 years, At that time ask the gun shop what is the route you need to take to tranfer a fire arm for a deceased family member.

lemme know if you need someone to transfer the title for you , or go check out my friend's shop Eddys shooting sports, in mountain view off moffet, Greg does this kind of thing all the time.

you need to take the handgun safety test to get the cert then you just need to fill this out and send in your money.
