Depends on what type of car it is... If it's something like a 5.0 Ford, a 4.6 2V Ford, an older Lexus LS400, 90's Honda, or 90's Camry, those miles don't mean much if the car has been well maintained.

I felt like this with my 240k mile 240sx. If I had had it for the majority of miles I would have been more trusting. But since I didn't I sold it. Got $1500 for it.
For me a car with 150-185k is buyable. Anything over that and it's sketchy IMO unless checked thoroughly or if I'm buying from people I know or have known.

avg mileage for cars an trucks is 13 to 15k a year so say 92 foxbody can have 300k an that is on the high end.cars with low miles are oil, coolant leakers most of the time

Really depends on the car.If its a Honda its just broken in at 200K.And when i buy a muscle car i dont even look at the odometer.

If it runs good with no issues who cares how many miles it has! But if you plan to sell it, the high miles will definitely be a turn off for most.

Dude, that car should run for a LONG time if u keep up with the maint. It's essentially the same motor from Taxi cab's, law enforcement cruisers, & work vans, & those things have TONS of miles but keep going... If it was a 4V, it would most likely need a rebuild by now.

If it's my car with plenty of my I don't care. As long as you change your important fluids regularly( Engine, tranny, rear-end) the car should last practically forever. However, if I am in the market for a used car, high miles is a turn off.

Mileage means nothing, it could have 40k on it and run like crap and have 200k and run good.

I bought my silverado with 220k miles on it. Of course the guy tried to pull the "motor was swapped at 145k", but no paper work was provided. I bought it assuming 220k, I put an additional 22k on it, and those were hard miles. The truck ran well, no leaks, or issues. I felt comfortable with it and bought it.

Now a days engines are built a lot better and more times than not it will last longer than the car. When you get into the higher miles its the suspension that falls apart. Especially with roller engines engines take a lot less wear. You have to think like most people which is a car with 200k is really worth buying when other stuff besides the engine will most likely need replacing.

What about those low mileage cars riding around with the speedo unhooked. You know people do that shit.

Just curious since I am on my first mod motor, and it's a 4v, is it really not that reliable compared to the pushrod 5.0? I guess ur talking from experience.
I do have a rebuilt motor on my Mach, it has about 1,500 at the moment. What issues should I be "expecting"?
