so I have a 90 lx and its completely stock down to the stock radio lol, well anyways I was thinking about doing edelbrock upper and lower manifold, ported gt40 heads, e303 cam, 65mm tb, cold air intake and underdrive pullies, but now Im just thinking about doing the 65mm tb, cold air intake, underdrive pullies and full exhaust, reason why I don't feel like doing the h/c/i is because I feel like it will ruin my mpg as this car is my daily driver, I currently feel like I get good mpg compared to my other 5.0s that only had the cold air intake and full exhaust, supposably cold air intakes increase your mpg, but is it true?? do you guys think the gt40 heads and edelbrock intake affect my gas mileage? I know the e303 cam will slightly affect my mpg, I don't plan on street racing either but wouldn't mind having all those aftermarket parts to show off [Big Grin] , what do you guys think? should I mod it completely or do the partial mods? or leave it completely stock?

The first two things i would recommend is 3.55 or 3.73 gears, and subframe connectors.

Neither of any of those mods will affect MPG as drasatic as you might think. Alot of GT40'd headed cars are getting near stock mileage! Just don't do gears and you'll be good.

I get great gas mileage with 3.73's. Besides, it makes the car a lot more fun to drive [patriot]

I ran 3.55's, ported Gt40P's, B303, and ported Explorer intake. Had a bunch of various other bolt ons, and would get about 18mpg highway.

stock motor, 3.73 gears, 5 lug with cobra brakes, and MM suspension all around is how I daily drove my 89 for 6 years.

24mpg hwy, 20mpg on the daily commute which was mostly hwy speeds.

I've always had the most fun in this hobby when the mods were minor and the costs were low.

Once you start going over the top is when the daily driving stops being fun.

Fast, Cheap, Reliable ... Pick two.

Kevin, could you drop off your car at my place for a weekend so I can verify these "highest in the world" MPG and HP for the mods number claims, lol. [Razz]
