Whats up fellas... So when I sold my Mach 1, I swapped my 18X9 & 18X10 FR500's onto my 91 LX. On the front I am running 265/35/18 BFG KDW2's, & they seem to be a bit too wide & rub Badly. Granted, the car needs an alignment still, & some negative camber will help, but I'm thinking I need a smaller front tire that will stretch on the rim a bit. I was thinking a 245/40/18, but I'm not sure yet. I wanna run the same BFG's, & I know they run a bit wider than other brands, so I dunno if that size will be enough for the clearance I need?
What tire size are you guys with 18X9 fronts on a Fox running? Please post pics if you have them too....
Thanks... [ April 19, 2012, 02:33 PM: Message edited by: *EPIK* ]

Thanks guys... that was the size I was thinking. You guys have any rub with that size? I feel like I can't turn my steering wheel very far at all at full lock, but I know fox's have a pretty shitty turn radius to begin with.
LOL Neight, that doesn't help me much, but thanks haha...

I ran 255/45/18 on my 18 by 9 Saleens and it would rub everytime I turned the wheel all the way but then yesterday I switched over to 255/35/18 and the rubbing stopped I suggest running the same size especially if your car is lowered also imo

I run coil overs up front & my car is pretty low. 255/35 seems ok, but u don't think 245/40 will be a tad bit narrower, which is kinda what I want, I don't really need the widest possible up front. I want a tad bit of stretch to kinda curve the edge of the tire a bit for more clearance. I don't mean drastic stretch like the "Hella flush" cars, just a lil bit of curvature on the edge....

Here are some 245/40/18 on a 18x9 FR-500 It does rub a little bit but I'm thinking it's because of the '96 and up spindles that are on it.

So u have a couple sets of 245/40/18? If so, what brand, how much tread, & how much?
Thanks...

I'm running 245-40-17s on 03 cobra 17x9s up front with 1/4 inch spacers and a 1 inch drop. i still get some rub on the sway bar at full lock to the left. I have an 85 though, i think they were a little more limited up front on space. [ April 20, 2012, 10:36 AM: Message edited by: Farrell ]

ran 245s on a 18x9" 24mm with 94/95 spindles on the 92 fobra. fit great but far too little side wall for preference. id say the perfect width balancing proper tire width and clearance on the front would be 255 but ive seen a buddy of mine who picked up my 92 fobra run 265s on the front. it rubbed occasionally on deep dips and bumps however but wasnt enough to be a huge concern.

Not following you here Alex. What was the aspect ratio of that 245 tire you were running?
A 245-40 will have more sidewall than a 255-35, 265-35, and 275-35.
The 245-40 is just a hair too narrow for a 18x9 rim imho, but it seems to be the best all around fit for a fox.
The 255-35 is too short and the 265-35 is a hair too wide for most fox applications imho.
Dustin, get the 245-40 and make sure it's an American brand and you should be good to go. Been there...
For anyone interested, most American brand rims (chinese replicas included), have 0.5" of lip on each side of the rim. Most European/Japanese wheels have closer to 0.375" of lip on each side of the rim.
So an 18x9 replica will meaure (9" + 0.5" + 0.5") = 10" across from lip to lip.
10" = 254mm, hence the 255mm width tire is the optimal width for a 18x9 wheel.
But alas, a 255-35 is a hair too short and a 255-40 is hair too tall for a fox.
And that is why the 245-40-18 is the best compromise IMHO.
Best of Luck.

my 255/35 on a 18x9 wheel. i like this size if you're lowered more than 1.5". less than 1.5", stick with a 245/40 to fill up the fender gap.

yeah i kept out a critical piece, the aspect ratio purposely cuz i honestly cant remember what i used back then. just shows how long its been since ive looked at anything car related. wasnt a fan so much of the 245 cuz it looked stretched and too perfect for the hella flush application. lol man, hows it been? any progress w/ the investment? as you mightve seen im neck deep into some major renovation.
