I just want to set the record straight with you. The reason I decided not to work on your car is because it was going to be a 3-4 day job and the $800 you wanted to pay was only going to cover the material for the roll cage. That is why I told you to come get the car. You haven't seen my work so therefore I don't think you are able to judge it. So far I havent had any complaints from my real customers. I have a right to turn down a job just as you have the right to take your car wherever you please. In the end I didn't do the job you took the car in the condition you brought it in, I think you need to move on and stop all this unecessary drama!

I think this is a learning lesson for both of you.
1) Dont drop your car off and not have a written quote.
2) Dont check cars into your shop without protecting yourself with a customer signature on a work order.
Did you quote him $800? Nobody knows who to believe because im guessing neither was done.

Thats funny, because i could of swore the jonathon just got on here a couple of months ago just to promote his business, but when someone says something negative now its he havn't been on here long enough. I'm pretty sure most you guys that go to the shop seen the car thats being talked about sitting there untouched. Obviously they had a angreement otherwise the car would not of sat there for 2 months. It seems to me that he got given a low quote just to have him drop his car off(and for the quality of work that seems about fair)and then jonathon tryed to jack up the price after months of bull shitting cause he thought he could.

So your calling me a lier? Why in the world would I trailer my car all the way down to richmond to sit in your shop for 2 maybe even 3 months to do a cage that I didnt get a quote on? and that YOU refused to do from the beginning? I guess you needed 2 months to tell me your not doing the job! That makes sense! Dont tell me I needed 2 months to get down there and pick up my stang that Ive had since I was 12 that my Dad bought for me! YOU WERE JUST BEING A NICE GUY? You never turned down the the job! After I got the call telling me that it is now going to cost me $1600 with out material at about 5pm I asked if I could come get it that night! I came down the next day and picked it up! You even posted on your facebook a bunch of pics of my car and said heres the next job! The only reason I even posted this whole thing on here is because I got his number from this site and thought everyone should know. So Im a lier? So I guess I need to figure out how to post the text message I have from you and you facebook private massages of me forwarding you the NASA Rules or do you want to save me the time and tell everyone who the real lier is?

who knows i didnt understand much of it also. he got a phone quote tho, and then wanted more done when he got there. of course the phone quote changed when the ori work assignment changed. should be work orders tho. and shoot after two weeks went buy and if we hadnt came to some conclusions of a finished deal, i would of got my car as well. but who knows? i know jon was eager to work on it myself. but i remember him not bein able to connect a deal with the owner. so until that happens no work can be done. lol something that those work orders come in handy on. he is just starting so. he has a speed bump that didnt cost him anything but one unhappy guy that changed his mind after the phone quote.

You cant handle a full cage, you wasted my time and money and thats the end of the story!
As pissed off as I am. I still said: If you have an ok car that needs some cheap work done like a Bolt in Cage, sub frame or torque boxes installed and you don’t know how to do it yourself, he’s probably your guy!

If you read my original post I gave him exact pics of the exact cage in the exact type of car.10-8x10 glossy The cage never changed No change oreders here. Would you pay someone that has never done a cage before, the same as a professional shop? I sure the heck wouldnt and didnt!

Heres the original post: F.O.D fabrication on demand or Jonathan or Iron 50. You all probably know my car it was in his shop for 2 month the primered and blue 65 fastback that he posted pics of every where like he did a bunch of work to it but didn’t do a thing. I got his number from this forum. Called, made an appointment to come see his work, got there, and no one was there. Left 8x10 pics of the exact cage I wanted in the exact car as mine. He called me back we talked. He quoted me $800 T&M for a 6 point cage. I must of asked 5 times if he was sure about that price. I figured well he's not bonded, insured, or safety certified and it was going to be a cash job, no receipt so no liability! And going to be one of his first cages, And if you stop and think about it, its 12 welds and 4 bends. If I had a bender and a tigger Id do it myself! He says he’s opening a shop as soon as its open he'll give me a call. I get the call. I insure my car for the maximum in case it burns to the ground or get stolen in good old Hayward and trailer it down. WE TALK ABOUT THE ROAD RACING NASA and SCCA SPECS HE DOSENT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE! I HAVE TO GO HOME AND FORWARD HIM THE LINKS TO THE RULES! I figure you get what you pay for! I tell him I know his estimate is low so there’s no rush use my car for fill work when he’s slow. 2- Months go by and I happen to be in the area and stop by. While I’m there, He’s installing a BOLT IN CAGE and Sub frame connectors in a 96 white Saleen and some sub frames and torque boxes in a fox notch back. My car is untouched. He says to me that he’s going to order the material so he makes a phone call and gets a price which seems high to me so I call VB in Petaluma and get the same material for $3 less a foot. I tell him Ill order the material and deliver it when does he want it? Jonathan says he needs to talk to his engineer and get me a quote. I say you already gave me a quote of $800 bucks or my car would not be here! Ohh OK. I tell him when he starts to work on it to give me a call and Ill come down and help so we make to sure to get it right! I get a call an hour later from him telling me that he talked to his engineer and it’s going to cost $1600 with out material. I asked him why would I bring my car to him with no experience, not bonded, insured, and safety uncertified and didn’t even know what the rules were and pay the same price as Griggs racing which do it cages all the time and are safety certified! I went down the next day and picked up my car! Before anyone else wastes $200 bucks in gas trailer their car there read this! His work is unproven there are no cars racing on a track with a cage that he has built from scratch, if there were we would see pictures of that instead of building overhangs or butt plate welds! He is not safety certified for any sanction of racing. If you have an ok car that needs some cheap work done like a Bolt in Cage, sub frame or torque boxes installed and you don’t know how to do it yourself, he’s probably your guy! If you have a nice car that’s actually worth something and you’re going to be doing some REAL RACING your going to need to bring it to a professional shop. When I went down there and looked at his tools, I should have known! I didnt even see a welder! I’m just glad I don’t have to go into a turn and wonder if I flip if I’m going DIE! Hope this helps sorry so long

I think dude is just mad that he got quoted 1 price in the phone, thought it was a steal and got all excited, dropped the car off and after figuring out everything you really wanted done, the rates changed. That would make me unhappy also, but at the same time, you gotta pay for what you want done. So what if he didn't know the specifications, like Duncan said, dude is just starting out.
You are 1 out of 100 customers that are unhappy, big deal. So you made an account here just to slander Iron50 and his business, not cool. Yes Johnathan made an account to promote his business, at first, now he is a productive member of the cafords community offering good work at affordable prices.
You have to make mistakes in life so that you can learn from them. I don't think your situation is that bad, you lost $100 in gas maybe, coulda been worse, johnathan could have started work on your car and you'd be stuck with the bill. Be grateful that isn't the case.

According to roadracer guys thread he told him what he wanted and sent pics, maybe i missed where he changed his mind or the original idea, but sounds like FOD found out how much work it REALLY was gonna be and wanted to change the price. You cant fault a guy for that. If its a cage like i have done in some SCCA cars 1600 is pretty cheap, I had over 40 hrs in just mock up, fittin to the driver, pedal mounts, seat mounts, fire bottles and all that. then well over another 40 in tiging it all up.
