Whats up guys? Looking at a 2004 saleen convertible and noticed the light bar about six inches lower and thought it was a costum bar...contacted seller and he explained how light bar is part of speedster cover...why would saleen do this?? Pros and cons of this setup?? [ March 06, 2012, 07:17 PM: Message edited by: WIKD 281 ]

Just kidding, I tried looking it up but couldn't find any info, do you have a picture by any chance?

Hmm. That's unusual, I have never noticed that they were connected. I wonder if it was an option for different models.

I remember when Steve introduced that at the Saleen show back in '03. Steve compared it to the roof lines of the Viper roadster. They also put it on the SA-20 cars. I like the other style that sits higher personally. This one looks odd with the window line at one level and this being so much lower.
Nice car though!

Yes 2004 Saleens have the Anniversary Tonneau cover with the lowrise lightbar attached to the cover. Only 2003 SA-20's and 2004 S281 Speedsters have this cover.
Saleen switched to the lower bar attached to the cover to help retain ease of use of the back seats when the cover is not on the car. When the cover comes off, so does the bar.
The bad aspects of this setup is terrible rear visibility through the rear view mirror. The low bar sits right in the path of the mirrors view.
As far as I know, these covers were never offered for sale from the Saleen SpeedLab.

Thanks for the info! Not a fan of the lower bar.....when i talked to saleen they said they no longer sell the (normal) light bar...anyone know if a light bar is still available without the terrible looking tag that most have? Ive installed a couple that were not made by saleen and they had a brand tag/emblem on the left side and always had the led third brake light not level with the bar but slanted to one side. Horrible quality!

Saleen outsourced the production of their lightbars. CDC made all the normal rise lightbars for Saleen. The Saleen bars had the same brand tag, it just replaced the CDC one that would normally go there.
CDC stopped producing those lightbars for some time... But it looks like they're in production again.
