So yesterday a friend and I decided to pull my intake and heads before yanking out my motor to see what exactly faild on this motor just as I suspected the piston failed and a big chunk of it came off and what you see is the rings on the right side . Yea no shit ,guy who built it told me that the pistons would be alright because of the ring gap guess he doesn't know how to gap them right either I should of stuck with my gut and not go with those pistons and now my brand new heads are burgered up if it needs repair best believe it's coming out of his pockets

I remember I bought this 89 gt like 4 years ago and when I went to pull the heads off the same thing happened and it had a 306 w like 7500 miles

So last night the motor was pulled I installed the cam in the 347" will have the short block will be installed and also pulled the oil pan on the old motor I'll tiny pieces of the piston and rings were found

Detonation will lift the ring land like you did on that piston.

Yup so far been a pretty easy process going to start installing the fuel system so I got to drop the tank and install the new sumped tank then start plumbing [ February 13, 2012, 03:46 PM: Message edited by: 50Reasons ]

There should be no guessing of where you should mount it. I hope you got the trunk mounted tank. The engine bay tank doesn't hold crap. Also stage 2 FTW!!
