Just curious what complete paint jobs are costing these days?
It needs to be QUALITY professional paint work with warranty, but nothing fancy required. Just an OEM finish...
I have a shop that I typically use for small stuff like a fender bender in the family. They want $5K or so which seems steep, but I have no point of reference.
This would be a color change if it matters and I would expect that upon completion nobody would be able to look at it and see that it used to be a different color.
Thoughts?

I just paid 7k for paint and body work on my 66. Its not shot yet, but the body work is done and car I'd blocked down 400 in primer. Waitin for paint booth......already paid for it was 7k and that was a buddy deal.
Last car I had used less paint and had minimal body work and 3500 was the buddy deal.
I'm talkin about paint so nice you don't want to leave the car in the parkin lot while u grab a drink or bit to eat.
5k sounds reasonable to me. Color change too?

Thanks Dan.
Paint work is incredibly expensive but after my buddy painted my trunk recently I helped him cut it and can certainly appreciate how time consuming it can be.
It's hard to justify dishing out that kind of dough for a $6-8K car...
Call me crazy, but I've been wanting a white/silver 96-04 Cobra. Bland, I know, but I think I'm getting too old for the flash of laser red ice cream paint, lol.

Thanks guys, that just confirms that I'd probably be better off buying a white/silver car and selling mine than paying $5K for a paint job.

Looks good! But if I am going to sell my car, I'd probably be picky about the interior color too
Don't get me wrong, I like the tan, but would not be making any compromises given the circumstances as I would be giving up a pretty neat car to get the next one.
Alex, let's deal All your car needs is a wing delete and it's good to go in my book! [ October 17, 2011, 02:03 PM: Message edited by: Luke87GT ]

Wingless cars remind me of lx hatch and coupes with no tail pipes

$5-10k seems to be the general price, of course color, how much body work, and what your willing to do all(take doors apart, peel off weather stripping etc.) play a big part. there is a guy here in town doing some pretty decent work for about $2500-$3000 that includes materials but if you get into some of the crazy colors it goes up. my car was about $6k to get it repainted about 5yrs ago but that was windows out doors off etc and most of the rust had already been repaired by the time it went in.

Quality cost so thats a fair ball park price!! But like someone said! The body work needed can change that price fast.
