He was probably the single, most influential CEO in technology in the past decade. He could literally steer technology in the direction he felt his company was going. You have to respect someone with that kind of influence.
Unfortunately, he was also known as a douche with shady business practices. If you think he rolled out with innovative products, you should read how he restructured patents and lawsuits. Also, how steadfast he was with money. It's insane.
