Well my 5 year old 56" Samsung DLP is finally starting to show it's age. I'm going to go check out some tv's today. What's new? What brands and models should I look at 1st? I don't want to spend more than 1k and looking for a 51".
Thanks [ September 30, 2011, 09:14 AM: Message edited by: SnakeBit ]

i just got mine after 2 months of research. It is a samsung 55 led. Only paid 1680.00. Samsung patened the led back light technology that makes the picture look more crisp than any other maker.thats just my opinion

You should be able to find a 50" 1080p plasma for about a grand or so, possibly less.

Newer technology and use less power.
Evidently the plasmas end up giving you the best picture if you look around on videophile websites.
I could really give a fuck my TV broke and this shit was legit.

1st LOL, I'm inBest Buy right now looking at the Insigna 55" LED right now. It's only $849. I'm usually a "brand name" guy but this tv doesn't look to shabby. It's probably twice as thick as the Samsung. How long have you had it? [ September 30, 2011, 12:40 PM: Message edited by: SnakeBit ]

Ive had my LEDs for 9 months now.
I got them for 1100 each with a blue ray player and some gay ass subscription to netsux

I hate Samsung and will never buy one again. I had a plasma and LCD that were produced "1 month AFTER" samsung had allegedly fixed an issue with their shitty power caps on the power boards. That's right I had the Same issue 1000s of people had and samsung pulled the "well it was produced after the change over date." Bullshit. Now I have 2 paper weights, i mean TVs laying around waiting on new powerboards. When I fix them they'll be for the garage or spare room. Now own LG lcds. Never EVER buying a samsung again. Regardless the price or picture quality.

Samsung LED 55" 1080p 3D 240hz FTMW!
If you haven't bought one yet wait until BLACK FRIDAY and buy online. Last year I paid 2k for a 4k setup. The TV included a pair of 3D Glasses w/ BR discs, a Samsung Blu-ray player, and a $400 gift card which I used to buy the Samsung surround soundbar and a motorized wall mount. I'm sure a 50" setup would be considerably cheaper too.
I went through Dell online because they had the best deal on the TV package I wanted. I believe Best Buy had the second best deal with the $200 gift card. They also offered 0% financing if paid off within the first 12 months which was cool. All I had to do was go online and order. They had the deal available for around 3 days if I remember correctly.

Yeah I didn't realize there was such a Hugh difference. I think the highest HZ for led was 240. The more you have,'the less pixalation you will have right?

I found that unless your constantly running hd or blueray video that 120 Hz is perfect. If your a gamer then I wouldn't go past a 50" screen and a plasma is heavier uses more energy and puts out a hell of alot of heat! I love the 46" lcd. Can't go wrong for the price!
