I lost the title to my car during a move. Can i just fill out a generic bill of sale (I xxx am selling xxx to xxx for xxx on such and such date) and give that to the new owner for him to register the vehicle. Let me know if you have done that before.
Thanks

Honestly i bought and sold cars with binder paper. But to be safe u should get a photocopy of their id/dl then write all info “ i xxx am selling to xxx vin, make, etc.
Dmv will not except any other form other than theirs, therefore you will have to ask seller if you can transfer their info onto dmv's form...fill out all paperwork before you get to the window and dnt let them see you write sellers info [ August 25, 2011, 02:25 AM: Message edited by: Stangn5oh ]

hes got it. just print off a release of liability and bill of sale off of the dmv web site. ive used the binder paper bill of sale before and so has a friend but dmv doesnt like it and they can give you a hard time for it. it just make life easier to print the right forms out. KEEP COPYS OF BOTH FOR PERSONAL RECORDS. the new owner just files for a lost title after he regiesters it [ August 26, 2011, 02:01 PM: Message edited by: 915.0gt ]
