I was good for about a year, and then got nabbed coming back from Knotts on Highway-1, going through San Louis Obispo (believe it or not, I got pulled over for tint while cruising at 70mph on the freeway, which is rare). I have thought about doing a lighter tint, but just don't want to risk getting nailed again.
