I'm trying to swap out my rims but the last lug nut just keeps turning, is there any way to get it out? without using a hammer?

is it the lug nut or the stud thats stripped and spinning? if the outer edges of the lug nut are rounding instead of being the hex shape take a socket that is a size or two smaller than the one needed to remove the good lug nuts and hammer it onto the lug nut so that it is tight. it will get stuck on the nut and you will be able to take it off. but the socket will be no good after. thats about the only way i have done this.

this plus they have a special socket you can by that cuts into the lug nut and removes it. They sell them at Autozone.

I think the stud is stripped because every time I put the lug nut socket on there it grips on but if I put too much pressure it slips

Like 12 bucks. Oh and btw I had Americas Tire do that once when it was real bad and it was like 40 bucks to do it. And you risk some rim damage depending on the rim style.

I'll try that. If everything fails I'll just go to autozone, thanks for all the help.

Thatsonly gonna mess up your wheel. Ive seen this happen like 5 times where i work at, if the stud is the one that keeps spining just use some vicegrips to hold on to the lugnut in place and use an air drill and drill the stud from the inside out.. its the best and most effective way to remove a spinning stud, if not let me know if you need some help i got all the tools.
