I've had mgw, steeda tri-ax, and hurst.
tri-ax felt the most positive and was easiest to shift, but really noisy.
mgw has an adjustable angle and similar feel to the tri-ax, but 80% less gear noise from the trans gets transmitted.
hurst I did not like the feel.

Pro 5.0, I didn't like MGW, B&M Ripper was surprisingly nice as well but I'd go with the Pro 5.0

My Steeda Tri-Ax is pretty good, it's not as short-throw as the others. But MGW seems to be the best.

All things considered....
Tri-ax with handle on top bolt holes, with a Mach 1 knob. Done!
If it's going in a 3650/56, be sure and remove the stops. T5/T45, make sure they're adjusted correctly.

I've had Hurst Competition, Pro5.0, and MGW.
The Pro5.0 felt solid. It gave me the most confidence to bang gears out of the three. I would never miss shifts with this thing, but that is partly attributed to good clutch cable set-up, proper adjustment, and a transmission that was in good shape.
The MGW is the highest quality imho. It's extremely quiet and feels tight.
Also, if you have noise and vibration, it's often not the shifter, but rather poorly adjusted stops and/or a transmission that has seen better days.
The Hurst was a big improvement over stock, but it doesn't hold a torch to the other 2.

MGW is what I have had. I have also tried the triax and it was o.k. but I prefer the mgw

I just installed my tri ax and I love it. It's a great feeling shifter I've had b&m and Hurst before but this is by far the best I've had [ November 30, 2010, 12:55 AM: Message edited by: JohnCM ]

I had a Pro5.0 and a Triax that were nice, I loved my B&M Ripper, the Hurst I had was poop. I'd say hands down the B&M was my favorite but I never had the MGW.

I have a Hurst now. Its cool but Ill miss shifts sometimes, mainly into 3rd. Ima look into the MGW since everyone says such good things about it.
To the OP, I apologize for jacking your thread. Atleast its related?
