Hey,
I got home last night to my house to find out it was warm in the house. We have dogs and a dog sitter so we leave the thermostat set at a reasonable temp. There was little to no air coming out of the vents. The outside unit was running and the inside blower was on. I noticed the line on the outside was frozen up. I turned it off for the night and went out this morning and it had all melted. I turned the unit back on and a little bit of air is coming from the vents. I think it may be a bit more than last night and it is cold air. Does this sound like a low freon issue or something with the blower? Does it usually happen overnight because we have never had an issue before.

I just noticed there is water dripping from the blower area in the furnace. It looks like it might be coming from a line in there. Does this sound like low freon?

^ This or when was the last time you had your filter replaced? I had the same thing that was going on with yours and had some a/c guy come out and he cleaned the drain cause it was plugged up and put a new filter in

I think its the drain causing the water to back up making it freeze. I have tried blowing air and putting a hanger down it with no luck. Any other ideas? Get a little snake?

FROZEN
DIRTY FILTER DIRTY EVAP COIL BASICALLY AIR RESTRICTION OR CAN ALSO BE LOW REFRIGERANT LEVELS OR SET TEMP TO LOW , OR LOW OUTDOOR TEMPS BUT WHO KNOWS GET IT CHECKED OUT IF YOU CALL A GOOD REPAIR COMPANY YOU WILL PROBABLY SAVE THAT MONEY ON YOUR ENERGY BILL ALSO IF YOU CONTINUE TO RUN IT YOU MIGHT DO DAMAGE TO COMPRESSOR [ June 08, 2010, 03:59 AM: Message edited by: SLPR93 ]

You can use compressed air from your air compresser if you have one stick the nozle in their and hit it and check where it drains out probly rusty old metal flakes and built up crap try that and get some evap cleaner for the coils and also make sure that filter is changed once a month and go fro there

The reason you most likely got water dripping is because when you shut it down and the ice started melting, most of it probably went down the heat exchanger and to the blower motor.Cobra chick said it well when she said replace your filter, a clogged filter won't let enough air go through and if that's the case first thing to happen is your coil ices up.

filter is good and clean, it looks like the drain line is clogged and I think it may need a charge of freon
