anyone ever had to beat or have an addiction? from like 14-22 i been smoking bud and from 19 to 22 been doing oxycontin and coke mushrooms. {done mushrooms 2 times, coke only for about 3 months not to hard core, but oxy and pain pills where really bad} i was doing like 2-3 80s a day. in july 09 i got sober because of some being a drunk moron. just this past weekend i drank a beer for the first time since. i also took a pain pill and man i see why i was so bad the feeling is nuts. now i feel sorta bad cause i fucked up my sober streak. all i can say is addiction is a hard thing and it sucks. the longest i ever was clean was bout a yr and half and then had a few streaks of a month here and a couple months here and there. i have alot of will power and now i have a family to worry bout and to strive to be better for. i figured ide make this topic as cafords has been really random. i also think this topic might be a good one.
so has anyone beat or have an addiction and to what? im sure there is alot of pot heads {witch i dont really think is bad but i just cant do that anymore}
drugs and alcohol have cause me alot of trouble and to spend $ and max out credit cards and lose alot of things. i hope i dont get bashed or a bunch of shit talk for this. i am only human and im sure alot of ppl have been in situations such as this.
im just going on and on now. but i feel good i am on a good streak except for this weekend {went camping} i drank a few beers well fishing and took a percocet 10mg. but now its back to sober and real life
anyone want to share any horror stories or what you did to get clean or what helps/helped you
what helps me is my family{my son and girl}, wanting money, keeping my brain busy and going out and chilling with frineds
so yea thats my lil story of my addiction. its hard to beat and to keep on the clean side

I never smoked cigs either smoked a shit load of blunts, I started smokin off and on when I was about 14 (7th grade)then when I got out of high school I started smoking a lot and I mean a lot, 8th or more a day sometimes.. Blunt after blunt after blunt.. I'll be 24 in aug and I'm not smoking right now. The longest I have ever not smoked though was about a yr and half. Shit makes me dumb and I hate myself when I restart cause I know I'm being lazy as fuck but I sure do love Mary Jane.. I've never been addicted to pills don like the feeling of them but I have known people to go to rehab for them. I've seen the and heard about the shit they do to get em. Relapsing sucks but it's part of it, every day I think about smoking. Just take it day by day. If u fuck up then start over.

Dude that some deep deep real talk in the OP...... I pray you can get through it. Having something to motivate you to WANT to be clean will help. If it were me I would cut ties with any friends that would influence you to use again. Any time you feel the urge to use, think about your family.
Lastly I would talk to a therapist and work on finding out what Triggers your need to use. Good luck and I wish you and your family the best.

i dont mean you all to think im some hard core addict. when i did coke and pain pills was after my pops passed. but i got over it and over the past 2 1/2 yrs it has been minor as in smoking maybe a 8th a month and drinking was a bit heavy but only like 4 beers a day. as for pain pills over the the same time has been the least of all. the pain pills was bad for about a year maybe a year and a half. that was from 19-21. i dont consider my self a hard core addict. but i know i have a problem built into me that just likes to use and feel different. over the past 2 yrs like above i have maybe taken 15 pain pills. so not very much and they where needed for pain not abuse. i know this is alot to throw in open public but its a good topic and will help people and let people tell bout there issue with addiction.i consider my self way cleaner then i was by a long shot. i have been damn good since last july. {in november i almost lost a finger and broke my hand witch i got pain pills for} but i didnt take many as i didnt want to. ne ways im ranting over and over. dont get the wrong idea as im a horrible person. i am only human and just want to make a odd topic. ne ways share on

It's good to hear you realize you're addiction and you're blood. My family is full of alcoholics and drug fiends. My dad just recently stopped drinking (again) and now he just burns (trees) and honestly I'm glad he is smoking instead of drinking now. I know it's not really good to replace one addiction with a new one, but man, alcohol is bad news. In my opinion marijuana has more of a right to be legalized than alcohol, it's worst affect is cancers, just like the cigarettes they sell at 7eleven.
Agh, now IM rambling! What I mean to say is I hope you find a way to get clean and stay clean for yourself. Family and friends are important but ultimately YOU have to want to quit. I know my childhood would have been completely different if my dad wasn't an alcoholic...

As long as you got your mind set you will accomplish what you are striving for. People don't understand how addicting pills are. It's the legal drug killing america right now. Pills in large doses are not only bad for you but they give you ridiculous mood swings. Good luck man. You'll break the habit.

Never been addicted but had a close friend who had a major problem with crank. She has been clean and sober for years.
It hasn't been easy.. it is a daily battle for her. She has support from friends, family, and a NA support group.
Good luck man

I have a family history of addiction. I lost an uncle to heroin and another uncle and grandfather to alcoholism. I found myself going down the wrong path with alcohol and changed my habits.
It's certainly not easy, but well worth it.
