165/15 86h.. it's a stock tire for a old vw bug..
i used them for years on my full weight 82gt.. they rims are the og solid centerline rims.. when i would hit my brakes to hard, they would slid.. so no quick stops or fast turns.. [Big Grin]

i used to all the time

the biggest thing is if you have bias ply on back and radials up front.

gets pretty hairy

go bias bly on all 4 or better yet radial on all 4.... your good

mickey thompson sportsman sr's

probably your only option for a performance skinny in a radial. other than that the 165/15's are ok, but not really speed rated usually

and KEEPING your sway bars help too

Someone please posts the video of the bone-head spinning nuts on front Draglights and collapsing them in half.

15x3.5" Draglights are not street tires! (although I foolishly ran them on the street for a while when I was younger and more reckless) [Razz]

ANY tire shop can get 165R's, and are stocked in nearly every tire werehouse, not hard to get at all!

Mike, it is in your best interest that you don't try this. Trust me it is more of a pain in the ass than the look is worth. And like stated above bias ply and radials track differently. U may mistake the tires tracking in different directions for gettng loose and put urself in a effed up situation for no reason. Use them for the track where they belong

i daily drove my coupe for about 3 years on 3.5s up front with some skinny ass VW tires. i drove that bitch back and forth from Foster City to Chico on those more times than i can count. never had any problems, just remember what you're rolling on, so no nascar shit and you should be fine.

You can do it, but it is not safe. You can't brake in an emergency/evasive maneuver. No quick turning or stopping, everything gets worse when it is damp or wet. What will you do when an animal runs in front of you or someone cuts you off? Too many deer and bad drivers

I have had numerous street driven cars with a 15 x 3.5 and a 165R tire. As long as you realize what you are driving on, and keep an eye out for pot holes you will be just fine.

I drove my Grand National arcoss the country on the Hot Rod Power Tour in 98 with skinnys and had no issues what so ever!

Don't be a sissy!!! Go for it!!!

My stang has had 15x3.5"s for almost the whole time Ive owned the car. I used to drive it as my everyday driver and never once had a problem doing it.

Other option is to trade the 15x3.5's and get a set of 15x5's and use a 205.

Only problem i ever had was i did a 50 roll with a buddy, went to change lanes around a car and had to turn the wheel a little more than usual to keep out of the concrete median...so just go easy on the turning and stopping and you shouldnt have any problems...

Well I ordered a set of 185/65-15's for the front and some 275/50-15 BFG drag radials for the rear. I have to see how short the the 185's will be mounted on the rim, I hope not to short, or I will just exchange them for the 165's.
