What 60fts were you cutting before that happened?
I've done 1.69s with no problems, but they are certainly a time bomb.
I've actually read that stock axles have been know to twist up to 360degrees before giving up the ghost.

holly shit the peice that was left in the rear end is all twisted up. before the tires the car was pulling a super quick 2.1 60's lol.... sorry willie had to do it. from 2.1's to 1.8's not bad at all. im sure 1.7's can be cut with out a problem on his current suspension set up. maybe some high 1.6's

Given that it traps 108mph with 315rw, I am guessing it's a heavy car (which is especially hard on axles).

Well, I would certainly weigh your car and see what it comes in at. If your weights are similar, then you know what the problem is
If your car is 300-400lbs heavier than theirs, then it would make sense. However, I can't see your car being that heavy. With 108mph, you should be running mid 12's on slicks. [ April 20, 2010, 08:05 PM: Message edited by: Luke87GT ]

Damn you snapped that bad boy right off. Crazy cause I ran 10.60'S with 1.49-1.55 60's all day, probably over 100 passes like that. My cousin is STILL on the stock axles and rebuilt carrier. He went 10.2 with full slicks. 1.49 60!

Drag radials can be particular tough on axles due to the soft/sticky tire surface but stiff sidewall...

you may have somthing there...
I mean I used to run 26x10.5 et streets and leave with 1.55 60ft times all day. Then I changed to m/t drag radials, not more than 4 runs (1.7-60ft) then broke a stock axle just like in the pictures.
Was a bitch to remove the knub broken in the diff

Willie Man where are you shifting at? i feel like with your custom cam and more power your car should pick up in your RPM band. im not that familiar with the track but all of our cars that ran were full weight. If there is a 3-400 p0und difference im not sure it would equate to the 3-4mph differences our cars have. Then again maybe it does. Unless my numbers are low, you have a solid 10whp and 15ft/lbs of torque over me so i would assume that would help with your added weight.

I had a convo with pure stang at the track and he was telling me how willies car picked up 10whp and gained 1.5-2 mph on his trap speed. Which would lead me to believe that every 80-100 or so pounds means a mile an hour lost on the track for willies car
Luke with what your saying it would mean that if i dropped 300lbs from my car that im going to be able to trap 113-114 mph? I dont see it happeneing without an increase in power to back it up. If it does though them im taking all kind of shit out my car on the next run. i never really knew the importance of weight reduction outside of getting out the hole faster [ April 20, 2010, 11:29 PM: Message edited by: 50 Deep ]

Your car probably weighs around 3250lbs. If you drop to 2850-2950, 114mph would be very reasonable.
It's just a general rule with lots of error, but for our street cars it is pretty spot on.
These rules only apply to consistent racers. Back when I had my fox, I would lanch at 6250 and powershift every gear. I'd go through 6-7 passes in a row that were all within 0.1 of eachother. When your times are that consistent, it is very easy to conclude if a change is helping or hurting.
But if your times are inconsistent, it makes it more difficult to conclude how much mph a particular gain in hp is responsible for.
It's a crude general rule, but many racers have been using it for a long time (applies to street cars)
~10hp = ~0.1s = ~100lbs

I am rusty as all hell and have not been to the strip since 2007, so I probably got nothing to show these days without some seat time. But back when I raced regularly, ya, I took it seriously. You don't run 13.0 in a stock motored full weight fox unless you are prepared to break things...
And regarding 6250 launches, that is 100% fact. I was letting it go as high as I could to get the 1.69 60fts with the stock motor @ full weight + my 200lbs ass.
