Might not be a wide enough tire. 275/40 fits nicely on a 9 inch wheel, fills out quite well.
But you may have to go 285 IMO or 295 to fill a 10.5 inch wheel...
I'v been reasearching a bit, like you and this is what my conclusions have been leaning too...but i have yet to see if a 275/40 can fit on a 10.5 wheel.

Yeah, I remember a 275 on a 18x10.5, it was a little stretched, but not bad. I guess ill just have to get her a 285.

Ya go with a 285 or 295 tire. I'm running 295s on a 10 inch rim right now and they look perfect.

I'm running 275 on a 10" rear and its kind of stretched...not too bad, but its definitely not desireable. With a 10.5" I'd say you at least need a 295.

unless you're getting a good deal on those 10.5" i would just get a 10" given that you're probably going with a tire that fits perfectly on a 10".

Plenty of people do.
As long as it is an American Brand Tire like a Goodyear, BFG, or Michelin, you'll be just fine.

You can tell all your friends you got 315s (even though your tires measure just as wide as a 265mm Goodyear Eagle F1), lol.

Nope. My girlfriend wants some. I have a set of 275's I can get for nothing. She has enough to buy the wheels, but she needs tires, and I wont give her no money. We have tires for the front, the backs the issue..
