one deck
two front speakers
two rear speakers
Dropped car off Tuesday and it still isn't done?! Was told it would take about 4 hours if that.
I pulled out all the interior and old deck so it would be even easier for these sons of bitches and the car still isn't done.

your car is at the sideshows right as I'm typing this, on a serious note it shouldn't have taken more than a couple of hours, I would go get it ASAP, because you're obviously dealing with morons.

Granted the speakers are getting custom installments rather than stock locations and some recovering of the door panels where the old speakers where but don't tell me it will be a day tops then 4 days later I still get no call.
Called him at 11:30. Says we are finishing it up right now....then goes on to say the deck isn't even in yet and the front speakers are just about to go in. So it took 3 days to install two rear speakers!??!
F'n beside myself. I can't get over there I"m at work. They close at 5 same time I get off. They open at 7am tomorrow I'll be there at 6:30am
SHIT! This place came highly recomended for working on older cars. Read no bad comments about them in YELP. Once I get my car back I'm blastin their shop!

I'll give them 3 days then because when I dropped it off they did say next morning they'll start on it. So I apologize....3 days not 4. Honestly after 2 days its bullshit

even with the custom installments it shouldn't taken more than 2-3hrs, I'd be very suspicious and check the car out for any damage, abuse or extra mileage.

I'm trying to be calm on the phone and don't want to cause shit. I don't want free stuff or anything. I'm really just hoping they do a clean job and do it right so I wont have to go back.
Clearly I'll be going over every inch of the car when I get there tomrrow. Trying ever single electrical component from the blinkers to the whipers, oh and the stereo of course.
I even had a dream last night I got the car back and it was such a hack job
this blows.

Man I'm with him, It seems like they are stalling HARD!!! I have done many customs stereo install. You can remove a complete interior, wire a complete stereo amps/speaker/subs/deck & reinstall the interior in 1 day. Hopefully its not serious. Take a camera with you when you go.
Good luck, keep us posted.

They Fucked something up and they are ordering the part to fix it. Maybe a respray or something. I would go in and at least ask to see your car.

I only go to these guys:
http://ai-sf.com/
6yrs strong + Jeff Jones + Chris are the owners of the shop.
They were originally recommended by Shaun (PurpleNotch) long ago and ever since i've been a longtime loyal customer. They do stereo + deck + sub system install while you wait
I remmeber they installed Indash DVD, Headset Screens, Visor Screens, subwoofers and amps in less then a day. I dropped my Stang off at 10AM and it was done same afternoon by 7PM.
Great prices!

I'd definetly ask for an explanation and compare them another shop. Tell them "i spoke with blah blah and they told me it wouldve took them a few hours to do this and why didn't you guys tell me in advance that these stuff would take this long"..
something must be up there..
Half of the time YELP.com you can review your own self over and over, i can go and create multiple usernames and review a single store 20+ times and make it seem legit.
It's always better to ask around

J is this for your old school? I hope not, sometimes it is hard to find parts if they fucked up something. Happened to my coug. Go in there with a attitude and get some free shit for the trouble.

It wasn't JR's. It's Car Stereo Installations Unlimited.
Car didn't get done until 12:30 Saturday afternoon. They are closed Sundays and I was unable to get there Saturday morning like I wanted to.
Audi had a flat tire and once fixed the day was so nice we took a bike ride up the coast. I figured at this point it was taking so long to finish the car I wasn't going to waste my weekend worrying about it.
So today at 11:45 I pick it up. They said it's all good and ready to go. So we'll see whats what when I finally get there.
Yes the work was done in my 72 coupe.
Photos and full report once I get back from lunch today

If you don't care how long its going to take then its an honest place to go. After inspecting the whole car and seeing/hearing the installation I felt better about the issue of how long it took.
He's thourough and maybe has to much work going on at once. The custom work looks clean and fits the car and he even fixed my window issues in the doors while in there. They would bounce around in the tracks and were difficult to roll up and down. Smooth as butter now. My driver door needed adjustment and he fixed that too. The din for the deck looks great. Not all stickin out and looking out of place.
favorite part is you can't see any of the speakers in the car.
Sound is very suprising.
So in the end...if you got time to kill, don't mind not getting updates and have another car to drive around in,...then yeah I'd go back.

good work takes time
Sounds like he needs to work on his time estimates, but lots of shops are like that.
