I would strongly advice not to purchase the 4in model 1911 or commander for that matter.
A 1911 was designed to run a 5in barrel and my Kimber Pro Eclipse II was sent back due to ejection and feed failures 3 times. On the 3rd time they gave me a new gun which I paid to re dros.
Please note that others have purchased 4in Kimbers that ran flawless, but not me.
Stick with a 5in or get a Glock.

damn that sucks about your kimber.... I've never had a problem with 4 or 3 inch kimbers.... What ammo did you shoot out of it? It does sound like it was a lemon though. The dan wesson bobtail is a good 4inch 1911 and with the mainspring housing notch really helps with if your CCW'd up.

The first 1000 rounds were WWB and American Eagle ( the red boxes). I just told myself after a good break in period it will work, but no. I sent it back for the 1st time they said they polished the feedramp changed the springs and it keep acting up. I did put another 500 rounds before I sent it back. Then the 3rd time I put about another 800 rounds of the same ammo and it would fail to load 1 out of 80 or 100 rounds. I called them and they said shoot it some more ect..... I then sent it back and the they just sent me a new gun.
The New Gun they sent me I shoot about 1000 rounds of WWB and again American Eagle and it too was experiencing FTF and ejection problems. My other 2 buddies purchased 5in Kimbers the same day I got mine and they have had those run perfect. I hold my 1911 like Todd Jarett, and I never have had the issues with those 5in Kimbers even when shooting lead reloads.
I really wanted a 9mm 5in 1911, but I hear they may be just as bad or potentially.

^I have not shot a 1911 in 9mm, it would be cheap to shoot! I finally had to have my ITHACA 1911 worked on about a year ago..... Pretty good for a gun used by the British gov in 1952. I think my grampa had some work done in the 70's but I still think that's good for a gun that old.... 1911 FTW
