i want to go with 245/45/16 in the front and 245/50/16 in the rear, but it looks like very few manufactures make 245/45/16. this is going on 16" pony wheels.

I just got a couple sets of BFG on clearance from Tire Rack for $80. I checked your size though and didn't see anything on sale.

Might I suggest another route. Used tires. I picked up a complete set of Toyo Proxes4 245/50R/16's - V rated for $250 at my local Pick-n-Pull. I know Les Schwab wanted to ream me at $732 for new ones, mounted and balanced! New Toyo's have an 8/32" tread depth. 2 of these measured 7/32" and the other 2 were 6/32" (obviously front and rear). WalMart charges $5 per wheel to install and $5 per wheel to balance. I'd definitely keep an eye on the 'technician' though! Hey, if you're cheap like me, it works!

New Toyo Proxes 4 tires in the size 245/50r16 come with 10/32 of tread. I bought my Mickey Thompson drag radials at Schwab, and have used there products for years.

It used to be you could find used 16 ones for the cheap but now with the trend to go bigger 17" are even harder then they used to be now the easy ones to find are 18" suply and demand

Order some from tirerack.com & get em mounted locally. That's what I usually do. They ship fast & cheap coming from Nevada. No tax too

I second that. I ordered on last Sunday, they called me to confirm that 18" would work on my car because they thought it was a stock mustang rim and I got it on Tuesday. Cheap for brand new tires too.
