Known about the laws and pc12031(e) years ago but didn't think it was in use by us citizens till I seen a broadcast about it today on channel 2 that is airing tomorrow evening about the whole carring a unloaded firearm with ammo seperate in public with some restrictions. I not asking for info about it, I know what it intells, just seeing if anyone on here open carries and if so, what issues have you ran into with law enforcement?

California has the dumbest gun laws. Period. How can you prosecute anyone because they shot someone who broke into their home?? [Confused]

It's all about concealed carry but that's basically impossible to get.

I would never open carry, all the fucking left wing hippies would call the cops, you'd probably get hassled a shit load and having to deal with court and all that bullshit, even when you are in the right would be to time consuming.

I'm also curious if anyone has done this

your gonna get dicks that will rat to the cops about you pack'n. its the nature for dumb fucks to freak out when they see a gun when its someone other then a peace officer. as long as you are in the clear with all documents you posses like no felony charges, gun is registered to you, unloaded and being mature about it, your clear of any harm or charges. link tells it like it is. i will do alittle more research for the few that are not convinced yet.

I would guess that you will get fucked with in a big way by cops and citiizens if they see you with a gun.. especially in this day and age. Might be diff in the sticks but for sure you will get fucked with in the city.

I am not sure what the point is of carrying around an unloaded gun. I would hate to have to try and load my gun as I am getting mugged or fucked with. Just doesn't seem like an ideal situation IMO.

Loaded and concealed would be the way to go (if you could do it leagally).

Not to many people I think would mug you when you have a gun strapped to you. Not everyone knows it isn't loaded. I mean I wouldn't.

i would advise you not to do it with out doing some research..go on calguns.net or californiaopencarry .org. theres other laws that you must be aware of when doing something like this..just be careful as most leo dont even know that its legal in cali to U.O.C

That's the #1 problem! Many law enforcement don't know the laws, it's worse when you get into off list receivers [Mad] [BS flag] They just see an AR and think "that's illegal"... [Roll Eyes]

i made visits to both site recently for a decent amount of time, doing research on this cause i plan on O.C. in near future. one of the sites have a print out you can carry on your persons that states your rights and PC codes you a excercising. once the braodcast airs tonight on channel 2, most departments will know or will be aware of this. how many peeps are we gonna see pack'n after tonight? ill be one of them. you have the right to carry a firearm under the 2nd ammentment......just not loaded or concealed. for thoughs who think that a unloaded firearm is pointless, thats better then not having anything at all. you call 911 and see how fast you get help. with my training in the past and preasent, i have no problems loading my firearm under stress. the choice is yours.

The law specificly states you can't have a mag in the gun, loaded or not so you keep the loaded mag in your pocket

Man this whole O.C> thing worries me. If criminals know the law at all, guess what? They can obtain a new gun pretty easily. Spot someone open carrying and take there firearm. If the gun isnt loaded, there is no point at all. I hope all of you who decide to open carry in the very least get a holster that has really good retention. I just dont see how you plan to stop anyone from just taking your gun. If the perp has a weapon, your gun is gone. And in the wrong hands to boot. Than you will become liable for what happens to that gun. Very frightening indeed. Get your ccw. If you dont live in a place where that is easy, move there. Thats what I did...

You're scenerio would apply to CCW people as well. If the other guy has a gun and its pointed at you, it won't matter if you have a loaded concealed gun would it? the only thing you got going for you is he might not find it when he is looking through your pockets or whatever.

Ya but at least you will have the element of suprise and can still look for an opportunity to defend yourself. With open carry that does not exist. And besides, with open carry you have made yourself a target. I think its all bad...

and to build on that, you're a gun owner, you support citizens owning guns. Well a non gun owner someone who doesn't think we should have guns would ahve the same argument you have towards OC to CCW. So i guess i am saying, support OC because it supports CCW

wrong! you CAN have a mag in the gun, must be unloaded. as far as the loaded mag in your pocket, thats illegal too, loaded and/or unloaded. both gun and mag states by law that they have to be exposed. unloaded gun hollow or with a empty mag inserted exposed in a holster is legal. ammo in mag holster loaded and exposed is legel too.

As a gun owner I am want people to be responsible with there firearms so the liberals have less reason and firepower to rid us of our guns. So that statement is just dumb.

Thats a pretty blanket statement dont you think? The liberals will always try to take guns away from us, whether theres concealed carry or open. I just think open carry in the cities is irresponsible and going to lead to more incidents where the press will not be on our side. I have had my ccw for a long time. With it comes a lot of responsibilty and sometimes some tough decisions. I just think carry an unloaded weapon out in the open is a terrible idea and will lead to some really bad things happening.
