someone here has a hook up and has pics of his maaco paint. And it came out really good. Key to maaco is remove your won pieces and do prep yourself if you can.

Trust me, I would get a real paintjob, but I have no money. Im still a teen and its hard to get a good job and my mom is willing to help me out with it. I was going to paint it red, because its originally laser red. OR paint the door jambs satin black (rattle can) and then do a cheaper color.

Yup, my dad just had his '32 Ford squirted at the Maaco at Concord and we got it back a few weeks ago. They did a great job! Go talk to Marsha the owner. She's real cool! My dad is one of those 'pain in the ass' customers and she never even batted an eye. My dad has had this car in storage for 47 years and we just did a ground up starting in late '08. If you want more pics of the paint, let me know. [Big Grin]

Edit- has not been cut and buffed yet!

Snakebit, did u do the prep yourself? Did the owner primer your car also? I saw u said 3 coats of color and 3 coats of clear.

Posted by snakebit95 (Member # 8871) on :

yeah, i did most of the prep myself. They did do a little extra sanding, primer and sealer. at the last minute I decided to paint the mirrors, he did it at no extra charge. He runs a real clean shop.

i wonder how much they charged to paint a truck flat black? [Cool]

SO do you guys think, that since I wanna go with a brighter red, i should spray bomb the jambs and trunk area satin black, so I dont have mismatching reds?

you can always get the jams done later to keep the initial cost down.

Hey sankebit, did the $998 include EVERYTHING? As in wet sanding the car after paint etc?

In other words, what did you have to do yourself to finish after hetting it back from Maecco????

Posted by NorCalRydaz (Member # 3233) on :

From my experience those paint jobs are only good for 3 years. Now if you garage you car every day you are obviously going to get more out of your paint job. But for cheap and quick you can't beat it.

they painted my drop five years ago still good no fade and also no orange peel they did a good job

Maaco pics look great! It's the in person part that is usually not so great.

It just comes down to what your expectations are. Maaco will give you a fresh paint job for a relatively small fee.

By most standards, it will be a big improvement over a tired paint job and many people will be happy with this.

If you want to go above that, I recommend going to a higher end shop however.

People have different standards. To me, if it isn't OEM off the showroom floor quality or better, I don't proceed with paint work.

Crocket Auto Body is very good at what they do, but they are certainly not cheap.

You know Alex, I was debating not posting that because by cafords standards, Maaco is an adequate paint job which would put a smile on most member's faces.

I am not saying that to be facetious either as I have owned cars in the past myself that would look better if I gave it the Maaco treatment.

Cafords "Maaco" Cleaaaaaaaaan! [patriot]

Maaco is the way to go to freshen up that ratty old fox.

I know Luke87 wouldnt take his ferarri there but it sure beats rolling around in primer or with oxy'd up paint and clear coat peeling off.

Just dont go touting that it is "clean" or the CAFORDS police will arrest you....

im probably going to send my daily driver there to get sprayed. [patriot]

id go to miracle over maaco any day. ive been to both but thats just my 2cents.

PR autobody in Burlingame. Expensive but great quality.

My neightbors 04 Mystichrome got the hood keyed up by some POS and PR did the work and its looks factory still, cant even tell the hoos was resprayed.

Then again, Maaco would be the way to go if you're on a budget, as long as it looks decent, not primered, or peeling, etc.

LOL, you know, to me it's simple.

You want OEM quality, you do not go to Maaco. You want to improve the look of your tired 15+ year old paint and don't want to spend a lot of dough, Maaco is the place!

I had my 92 Ford crew cab sprayed at Earl Sheib in Redwood City a few months ago. I think they did a solid job for the money. Regardless of where you go, get the quote, make sure they have your phone number and wait. I waited three days and the price for the top job went from $1300 to $800. If they are slow, they'll drop the price.

They only quoted about $200 bucks for some body work that I thought was going to be way more.

Maaco did the passenger fender and bumper on my 90, but the paint is starting to peel off. Miracle did my entire 67 for $800, they did a way better job than Maaco.

A lot of their paint jobs don't have clear coat so they fade quickly. My dad did one on his old Bronco and it looked like it was done with chalk a few years later but clear coat would make it shine for a long time.

The one on Brokaw in San Jo, but I hear they moved to Monterey Hwy.

Single stage urethane acrylic, holds up well, easy to maintain, and it's lasted 3 years so far.
