LEOs or gun savy people answer me this: I was looking up california law and regulations regarding shotgun laws and found info that would state this is illegal but i cant find anything related to the weapon to give me a for sure answer. The weapon in question is a : Serbu Super Shorty 12ga AOW Info: The SUPER-SHORTY is based on a Mossberg Maverick (also available on 500 or Remington 870 at additional cost) 12-gauge shotgun which came from the factory with a pistol grip. Because of this, the SUPER-SHORTY is considered an AOW (Any Other Weapon) and can be transferred with a $5 stamp! The gun holds two 2-3/4" or 3" shells in the magazine, plus one in the chamber. The 16.5" overall length, 6.5" barrel and spring-locked foregrip, which pivots out of the way when not in use, make for a very compact package. As far as we know, this is the shortest 12-gauge pump shotgun available. All parts for the SUPER-SHORTY are made in-house on our own CNC machinery using materials ideally suited to the task. All welds are done by the TIG process, and the manganese phosphate finish is MIL-spec. The SUPER-SHORTY is currently being used by various law enforcement agencies and military units worldwide. If you like the idea of concealed carry with a 12-gauge, or like a lot of "bang" in a small package, or just want the most compact breaching weapon available, then this is the gun for you. You won't find a better made AOW pump shotgun than the SUPER-SHORTY!

18" is what i believe i saw and what was said earlier. But technically its a 6.5" barrell. Being classifies as a AOW firearm, does that dq it as a shotgun.

don't want to take over this guys topic but yeah its a "mini AK". kits for the 7.62x39 version go for around 800 1000 and thats just for a kit, the less popular 5.45 chambered krinkov go for 100-200 less then the 7.62 version.
edit - good luck finding a kit in cali ![[Wink]](wink.gif) [ October 12, 2009, 12:35 AM: Message edited by: 91fox ]

Best bet would be go to a gun store. But it has to be 18 inch if it's a rifle and you can't have a pistol grip on a semi auto shotgun if I remember correctly

I wanted that tiny shootgun since the first time I saw it.
It is not on the California legal, shotguns have to be 18in or longer. Even for hunting purposes long guns have to be 18in or longer for most hunting resorts.

Yes it is legal in CA. That is an AOW and is one of the ONLY NFA legal items in CA. You have to submit paperwork to the BATFE to get a tax stamp to purchase. Current wait times are 6 months. Depending on how you purchase it determine which tax stamp and form you need. If you want to build one yourself, you need to submit a Form 1 and it's a $200 tax stamp. If you want to buy one already made, it's a Form 4 and $5 tax stamp (yeah, no joke, $5). The problem with going a Form 4 route is you have to transfer through an FFL with an SOT, and there aren't very many in CA willing to do a transfer, so you're pretty much forced to build one yourself on a Form 1. Also, if you try and buy one as a normal citizen, you WILL NEED approval from your local Police Chief or Sheriff. You can avoid this signature by creating a trust and having the trust purchase the firearm, however, this costs more money but allows you to be able to buy one if you live in a liberal area. AOWs are also not restricted to other NFA rules like short barreled shotguns and rifles in regards to moving them from state to state. There are a number of these in CA already. Very cool if you have the cash.
