By cutting from the top, the spring is no longer flat and results in a compromised "seating" of the spring in the upper perch.<br /><br />I've cut rears before, but it makes me extremely nervous and I won't do it again.<br /><br />Case and point... I once removed a cut rear spring from the spring perch by pulling on it hard with my hand. One car has had the cut springs in it for like 6 or 7 years and it hasn't flipped over or burst into flames so I think your safe. cut a turn and a quarter off each coil and see how it sits. <br /> </font> </td></tr> </table></td></tr></table> <br /> <br />
