Somebody who actualy understands. I would like to see a explanation of why it is racist? English is the offical language of the USA. If I moved to Mexico...or Japan. I would not expect everybody there to learn english to communicate with me [Roll Eyes] . I would learn the local language.

When I am out and have to talk to someone and he/she cannot speak english I wonder how the fuck that person got here and who supports him to be ignorant on such a level.

You know they don't have insurance, are being paid under the table, and living illegally. Who would support that?

I can't say that I disagree with people learning English in this country; can be very frustrating to deal with them.
However, I do understand why a lot of companies like the one I work for, accomodate people of diff languages. It's simply good for business.
And I sure didn't mind the broad I banged out over the weekend in Vegas who didn't speak English [Wink]

I don't mind paying taxes so long as they support a good cause. I have a buddy who is a guidance counselor at a HS. He has a couple siblings who get free school lunch because their family income is so low. Their Mom drives a late model Escalade. Fuck them. Greedy entitled motherfuckers like that are worse than the "rich" who don't want their taxes raised. At least those "rich" people pay their taxes and don't fleece the fucking system.

*I acknowledge, that people like this are a tiny tiny cross section of those on various forms of public assistance. But everytime I see/hear of one, I want to put a bullet in their head.

I feel you. when I go to safeway and the lady in front of me has a nice handbag( guci, doney and burk, Chanel, coach "a real one not a knock off") pays with her gov credit card then walks outside and hops in a 30 to 45,000 dollar car.
My friend works at safeway and he sees it every day !

English is the internatinal language of business and common interests. If 2 people just met each other, and one speaks french and the other speaks chinese, there gonna MOST LIKELY communicate in english. Majority of foreign leaders learn english because they know no matter what country they go to, people are going to speak to them in english aside from there national langauge. English is used everywhere.

Dude, I'm mexican and Japanese... and both sides of my family speak English. It's not that hard to learn, and frankly if you want to live here and enjoy eveything that life in America has to offer (especially the non-insurance havin illegals) the LEAST you could do is learn the language of the land...

I agree with the OP. America's primary language is English. Hell, my grandma finally got her citizenship here but even she's taken classes to learn it. If your family members don't want to take the effort to learn the language, then people shouldn't have to drop what they're doing just to find a way to communicate with them. How is it not their fault? Because they're too lazy, inconsiderate, and ungrateful to take the time and a little brain power to adapt to the culture and nation that they migrated to?

I know plenty of people who are 100% Mexican, and even though they may not speak the language flawlessly, they do their damned best to try. It's funny that you claim racism right off the bat. Maybe you are the racist here. Why? Because you simply assumed that everybody who responded was a white racist fuck. I'm full blooded Chinese but 100% pure American. I speak both languages fluently.

I am Eastern European, and my family was fortunate to come over to the USA in 1984 when I was just 3 years old. Everyone in my family learned to speak English for the following reasons:

1.) To give ourselves the best opportunity to succeed in this country.
2.) To be able to communicate with others and allow others to communicate with us.
3.) To show general consideration and gratefulness for living in the USA.

I am always taken back at how many people I come across who came to this country, and now immerse themselves in their own culture via family, friends, and districts of larger cities, and never learn English, nor make any effort to appreciate other cultures. These people are living in a place where English is the primary language, it does not get any easier to learn English folks. Just takes a little bit of desire.

It's quite pathetic and shows a lack of initiative. There are plenty of people around the world that would trade places with you and come to this country grateful while doing everything they can to be a productive member of society.

I really think it comes done to initiative. Initiative to better yourself. Initiative to put yourself on the path of success. Initiative to give yourself and your family the best life possible in this country. America is a great place to live and its a privelege to live here. Take some initiative and start by learning English. Its the stepping stone to success in this country. [patriot]

Shoot, go anywhere in the world, and English will most likely be the 2nd language (if its not the first).

English, speak it mothafucka! LOL

I don't agree wit you. And I aint white or racist. Im Afghan and a US born citizen. And I experience more racism than you guys do. If your gonna live in this country, you have to at least make an effort to communicate with others in the same language. Yeah there are a lot of spanish speakers, but that's not what were taught in preschool through 12th grade. My family put in the effort to learn english, even if its broken english, its understandable and people know what they say. You can't just expect the whole nation to adjust their english language because other people don't speak it. Its common sense. It has nothin to do wit racism. Its all about education and the will to learn.

Well, the truth hurts, doesn't it? I'm not going to sugar coat it. I'm sick and tired of certain immigrants of all races whining and complaining about getting their way. People who come here and take advantage of the system. People who come here and try to change us.

lol at this clown. I think you missed the point. If you want to live here and not speak the native language so be it. OK, I wasn't going to reply, but I feel that I must after seeing the video and reading all of the comments below. First off, the song is racist no matter how you look at it. You have to have hate for a race to be enraged about pressing one for english on a phone. Yes it may be a joke, but it is a racist joke.

Secondly, the song refers to Mexicans and Chinese. Well, those races help to build America. If you don't know what I mean and you are enraged about that comment please crack open a book. Better yet, look it up online.

Thirdly, are we really sure that English should be the native language of the US? What about the Native Americans that were here first. I read this comment on youtube and thought that it made for a good point.

Yes, they did build America. So did many of other races. But there are a good portion of Mexicans and Chinese alike who have learned English. I'm certainly not offended by the video.

True, the Native Americans were here first. But I don't see English as the native language. It's the official language of the United States. Whether or not the Native Americans were here originally and are entitled to whatever is a whole different debate IMHO.

If I were to move to another country, I would want to learn the official language of that country. Nobody should have to stoop back just because I refuse to learn the language. There's nothing wrong with being bilingual, or holding onto your culture. After all, you are who you are, and you should be proud of it. But don't force someone else to change when you are the guest here.

Funny this post came up recently.

I was just pissed off the other day because I had to press one for English. [Mad]

If they are going to only accommodate the Spanish speakers that's [BS flag] .... They need to accommodate every other language too then. Now I think that is racist [Roll Eyes] I don't care how much larger of a minority Spanish speakers are than people who speak other languages....

You know, if people don't wanna learn English... more power to them... simply means they won't get ANYWHERE in this country. When's the last time you saw a CEO of an American corporation... or, hell, a COLLEGE GRADUATE who didn't speak english?

Non-english speaking people in this country (legal or not) are more of a burden on society than anything else. Sure, this country accomadates there "handicap" but other than that, other than having multilanguage instuctions, and pressing 2 for spanish... they're on there own. So learn English, pass it along to your countrymen so the American tax payer can stop wasting money translating english for a group of people that are, for lack of a better term, lazy and worthless...

well, unless you want a deck built on the cheap... i actually commend the illegals who try hard to speak english and work manual labor for like $20 a day... they understand, more than some american born citizens who speak fluent english, that it takes hard work to make it in life...

the ones i have a problem with, are the illiterate fucks who only know enough English to cash their welfare check... and tell you they have no car insurance... and look at you like YOU'RE the stupid one for not understanding their language...

Oops on that last one, I hear what this guy is saying and he has a small point here. However, if he wants to better and not alienate himself and his family he should attempt to learn English. The problem is a lot of races tend to make there own little "communities" and start to shy away from the rest of the world. For example when I see a all asian shopping center, I can't read a damn thing which leads me to believe they only want asians shopping there. I have no idea what the hell they want to sell and I say ok...fuck em',my business goes elsewhere. So if you want to alienate yourself,go ahead. You really won't get ahead in life, you will tend to limit yourself and your families future.

honestly there's no reason to get offended over anything, i'm 100% mexican and all my family knows at the minimum enough english to be able to get by the simple stuff in life, if you choose to not give a fuck about learning english, that's all on you, like other members said its just more of a nuisance for any english speaker whether its your first, second, or third language.
being mexican and working in a neighborhood where a large percentage of the population is latin, i choose to speak english to them (besides me looking like a white boy), it makes me feel like im helping them practice their english [Big Grin] [patriot]

Somebody who actualy understands. I would like to see a explanation of why it is racist? English is the offical language of the USA. If I moved to Mexico...or Japan. I would not expect everybody there to learn english to communicate with me [Roll Eyes] . I would learn the local language.
Actually in Japan they teach the kids out there to speak English because it's the universal language ,English is part of the ciriculum .

The only problem with this song is, English is not the official language of the united states, it is in England though. There's not an official language for the united states, but English is the language most spoken, followed by Spanish.

This is my view on learning english in america (what i assume this thread is about) and was the view of one of our greatest presidents as well.

Not trying to be an ass, but i dont understand what you're confused about. I am not advocating forgetting ones heritage, but if one wants to be treated on the same level as as everyone else and reap the benefits of this country, they need to learn English and have some national pride.

If someone is a 50/50 citizen between the US and somewhere else, then what stake do they have in making sure this country works. If it all goes to shit, then they can just head home.... i know many people who waited 5-10 years to immigrate here from some pretty shitty places in Asia and Europe. they love their country, still speak thier language but their home and their childrens home is here. they fly a US flag as they know exactly why they are here and not back home.....

But i guess this sentiment makes me a "racist".
