Someone came at me with a pretty nice trade for a 68 cougar. Not a xr7 but is pretty well put together. Some features most of ya'll wont like..lol. Has Candy paint, 20in Zeniths with Vogues a few lil engine upgrades, shaved handles with poppers a lil beat. (took me back to 91-92 all over again)
I am still mulling it over. I am on the fence about the trade. But it would be cool for the wife and I to have matching 68 cougs. Every since I sold my root beer brown one I have wanted another one and this one is already candy'd out. Plus if I get this one, the wife can paint hers the fruity color she wanted. But its a hard decision for the cobra.... Plus if I did it, I would have to get AC put into the wifes. She cannot live without AC in her cars. [ July 15, 2009, 11:33 AM: Message edited by: N8 ]

Do it, from the sound of it your a cougar guy, and it sounds like a win win situation, a clean cougar, and you can fix one for the wife(its always better when there involved in your car hobby) The cougars worth more and will probably be worth way more than the cobra in a couple years. Then you'll have an excuse to buy another mustang for you son

Well I am thinking I can, but it is complicated. The dude I am dealing with is actually the brother to the guy who owns the coug. He is cutting his bro a special deal to allow him to trade. I think for the common folk he was asking like 7k for the coug. But yea I could buy it. I took a pic of it with my phone I'll see if I can post a pic.

I love cougars!!! I had my first one when I was 22 she was 41 and I been hooked ever since. Never mind that hittin them cougars is like thrusting it into an old leather catchers mitt. Instead its how they treat you compared to young ones. The cougars treat you like kings and you get SERVED! I say do it!

Here is a pic of it....nm the small wheel up front, we put that on the to check something. The big wheels were rubbing. The pic does the paint no justice. The paint job is off the hook and is painted the same color inside.
Oh and the Zeniths would be going on the 67 New Yorker, I may opt for 20 in newer wheels for the Coug.
Oh yea and nm the dirt. We are doing some landscaping and I am pulling up rose bushes. [ July 15, 2009, 12:03 PM: Message edited by: N8 ]

I have never been fond of the sn95 body style and this is my first one (which initially was for my son). But it has grown on me. SOme of the things drawing me back are the coug not being a xr7 and not having black plates..... but yea I am thinking it through.

Go for it. Whatever your "true" love is.
That is why I have the car in my signature and not another run of the mill mustang 5.0......
The charger is my "true" love. I love mustangs, but not as much as the charger.
COUGAR IT IS!!!

you can get black plates now
Year of Manufacture license plates. This new law expands the “Year of Manufacture” license plate program to authorize the owner of a automobile, motorcycle or trailer that is a 1969 or older model year vehicle, or the owner of a commercial vehicle or pickup truck that is 1972 or older model year, to utilize Year of Manufacture license plates, and would increase the original application fee from $35 to $45. The $10 annual renewal fee, $20 plate retention fee, and $12 plate transfer fee remain the same.
The new law would require the inclusion of two active license plate series into the Year of Manufacture program:
Black background with yellow characters – issued 1963 - 1969; Blue background with yellow characters – issued 1970 - 1990. To qualify for use, plate configuration cannot have a current record on DMV files. The year sticker displayed on the plates must coincide with the year model of the vehicle being registered with the exception of 1963 year model vehicles. Black and gold plates without a year sticker can be used for 1963 vehicles as no validating year stickers were issued in 1963. Plates for 1964 through 1972 must be presented with a sticker that matches the year model of the vehicle the plates will be used on. For example, a 1966 Chevy Nomad Wagon will require that a set of black and yellow plates with a 1966 sticker issued by DMV in that year be presented for use.
Additional information on both laws can be found at www.dmv.ca.gov. [ July 15, 2009, 12:14 PM: Message edited by: Jdub07 ]

Do it! I'd do it in a second, SN95's are dime a dozen and clean old Cougars are rare. A friend of mine has a red 68 Cougar convertible he might sell me super cheap, if it comes up I'll figure out a way to get it for sure. I'd ditch the wheels like you said but I think 20's would make it too donkish, run with some 18's or something along those lines and make a restomod out of it.
