Wrong no matter how you look at it.

I thinks is wrong, He could have easily arrested her as you can see he pushed her away a couple of times and it looks like it didn't take much force. I think anyone with that kind of job should evaluate the situation dangerous vs non-dangerous and should have training to deal with this kind of difficult people (difficult people does not mean dangerous), and tasers should be use in self defense or with any display of violence.

LMAO to big916jerry's comment.

Im a cop and even I would say that was excessive. No reason a simple control hold would not have been sufficient. But then again if he accidently broke her arm then people would be crying foul with that. The job sucks no matter what way you look at it. Our Taser Policy does not restrict the use on elderly but says to take it into consideration. Basiclly its no different than an impact weapon and I wouldn't have hit her with a stick either. Bottom line, screw her for lying too.

two most important things [patriot]

use the tazer and defend its use by policy or wind up breaking her arm and getting sued/put in jail for excessive force blah blah blah

bitch should have listened

she was way out of line... definitely one of those older people who feel they deserve respect simply because of their age...

look, i don't care how long you've been on this planet, you show that level of arrogant disrespect to law enforcement, when YOU ARE IN THE WRONG, you get what's coming to you...

i commend that officer for actually sticking her with the ticket and not letting her off with a warning... i mean, how many accidents do we see involving the elderly drivers hurting innocent people?

He should have used the baton to teach her some fucking respect. The guy was just doing his job and she had to be an old cunt. I know a lot of old people like that (think that bieng old has priveleges) and I have been in a car with a old family member who pulled some of that same crap but got away with it. Shit pissed me off.

what woulda happened if she mashed out.. and hit kids crossing the street? or a car passing with babies in it?

when i first heard about it i felt the same n8, but after tryna think of what the guy maybe coulda prevented from happening i thought.. well okay, i woulda probably did the same.

Just think about this as well. If she tried to get in the car again and he had to restrain her, what if during that process they tripped into oncoming traffic? I would rather tase her then have the happen.

Vulcan neck pinch could have ended this easily.

But real talk, if the cop cannot use the appropriate force when dealing with a old lady then he should not be a cop IMO. I chatted this up with my cop homies and none of them are on his side. He gave her a simple shove and she flew like 5ft, so that tells you there he possessed the ability to subdue her with the right force.

He gave her a shove to get both of them away from traffic, honestly she moved a couple feet at best. How many times have you seen dash cams of cars hitting others pulled off the side of the road? They could have both died. If you refuse to sign a ticket they can arrest you. She was acting like because she was old that she was above the law..... she isn't. She went on camera saying she didn't do any of the stuff she clearly did in the video, then wouldn't talk to them once the video showed proof she was lying. I don't see why its any different using a tazer in a 30, 50 or 72 year old person if they are acting that way.

Well as it was told to me by an officer(s), they wouldnt have used a taser on the lady because the level of threat did not warrant it. Also you have to consider an old lady's ability to withstand the charge. Had she had a pacemaker or a known heart condition this could easily have been fatal.

To me he just made a bad judgment call. He used the wrong level of force (IMO). Shit had she been a few years younger he would have billy clubbed her no doubt. His judgment is skewed IMO.

Wasn't that officer Farva from super troopers. I think that it is the process of the law, She clearly resisted arrest when he was getting ready to cuff her (she pulled her arm away and turned). Should everyone that is over 70 and makes a scene get special treatment i wonder how many times she has pulled the same act and was let her go. She is a health lady or else she would not have a full size Toyota Tundra that she can get in and out of.

I can't stand it when older people think we owe them a thing or two just because of their age. she doesn't deserve special treatment. Did the cop feel threatened by her? probably not. but she repeatedly disregarded what he was telling her to do and I think she had it comin. Although the officer could have probably used an arm hold to subdue her, she would have most likely started struggling and ended up hurting herself in the process. I think the taser was the only way to quickly put an end to the situation.

The problem lies in the fact that if he attempted to subdue her and she resisted, something could have happened that caused them both to fall into oncoming traffic. Then they are both dead. What if when he grabbed her arm again she gave him a push? Right into oncoming traffic?

The taser is there for specific situations like this. Its not like he didnt warn her on multiple occasions. Just because she is an old lady does mean she couldn't struggle and put both of them in danger.

What if durning your man handling you and her trip into oncoming traffic?

What everyone seems to forget is the side of the road is a very dangerous place. Its not like ths was some desolate road. Any little struggle from the old lady could have made the situation much worse and put BOTH of there lives in danger.

Everyone here wants to be like "Im such a man I can man handle an old lady", but fail to admit it still can be difficult for ANYONE to "manhandle" someone who doesnt want to be. And added to the fact that one slip could put both of them into oncoming traffic and get killed. Your guys perspectives seems little skewed to this fact.

It would only be like Gangs of New York if everyone the cops pulled over was standoffish, non-compliant, resisted arrest, and showed zero respect for any type of authority when the person was clearly in the wrong.

He did not make a bad judgement call. You just are not cut out for what it takes for police duty. It is easy to have a computer job and pass judement on law enforcement people. It was pretty obvious she wasn't going to cooperate. I would not have wanted to stand "in" the highway and debate the issue just as the lady was doing before he pushed to a safer area. All she had to do is sign the speeding ticket, that is it. I bet the officer is glad he has a dash cam.

All she had to do is sign the speeding ticket, that is it. I bet the officer is glad he has a dash cam.
I'll be the first to say I am not cut out for police work. SHit someone sneeze during a traffic stop and they be getting fitted for a casket. But....I have several good friends on various forces and I speak with them all the time and learn shit from them. And the large majority back this dudes play to a certain extent but all say they wouldnt have handled it this way. So I put that with my common sense and come to my conclusion. I just do not and will not see how the use of a taser is justified here.

Are you saying you would have tasered her? Or are you saying you back his play?

And I thin khe was better off without the dash cam. Then he would have been just a snatch, but after watching it he became a diseased puss filled Llama snatch.

I havent been tased by a cop...oh wait..that's because I dont resist arrest, or begged to be tased.

Age means nothing, she should have STFU and none of this would have happened. She had multiple warnings, looks like she had the chance to choose the outcome. Should have just signed the ticket to begin with

Since the fact that she is a grandma and is 72 is your main arguement in this, why doesnt she act like a grandma that is 72? [Wink]
