Kinda juiced about it, but New bench max is 415. I dont think I will hit my ultimate goal of 500 because I am dropping weight like a crack head with this diet thing so I am getting weaker. 5 more pound and I collect 200 bucks from my brother who said it was impossible to bench 2x's your weight.

Just thought I'd share [patriot]

nice...sounds like your brother needs to do a little research before he bets. Remember it only took cummins a few months to go from barley benching 225 to reping it 24 times. I belive he must be pressing well over 2 times his body weight by now.

At the time I was 210 and more concerned with other aspects of health when this bet started, benching maybe about 275. Reppin 24 times is extremely strong IMO. I can only do that on my good days. My internal goal is to bench 500, doubt I get it tho. Because I am down to like 205 body weight.

I never liked beer. but my achilles heel was soda. I cut that. And now I am on a 1600 cal diet. I am using sparkpeople to track it and set meal plans. I recommend its good and free. Beer is hella bad for a person trying to diet, but you know that. [Big Grin] . Basically I am eating chicken, fish, veggies and even watching my intake of those. Last week or so I am averaging 1400 cals consumed, plus hooping 2-3 days a week and working out 6.

I still drink my Rum, Sprite and OJ on Fridays with wifey.

are you going to compete or something? That is a very strict diet plan.

hopefully your keeping your protien intake up... 1400 - 1600 cals a day sounds crazy low for someone working out that much.... but whatever works for you i guess. REPS for new bench
max!

Yea I know that is a ambitious diet, but I amnot starving through out the day. So that lets me know I was basically just eating to eat. My diet plan calls for a max of 1900 cals, low end is 1600. By the time I eat what they prescribe I am full.

But if I could get in competing shape that would be great. Especially at my age.

I do 225 25 times routinely on my first set. 2nd set I can hit only about 21-22 times, 3rd set about 18-20. I take a rest period about 2 minutes since I do more reps than usual. On days where I do 15 or less reps I take a minute rest. Yesterday I put on 315 and did it easy, then 335 and did it easy, then dropped down to 225 and did it 23 times. I don't really like to lift heavy because it KILLS my joints and especially my shoulders. So I usually don't lift anything that I can't do at least 15 times, which is 275.

Someone just bet me $100 that I couldn't do 3 plates so that's why I threw it on yesterday. I guess I looked like a really skinny red head in a long sleeve shirt so he didn't think I could do it. I did 315 and 335 both with a 3 sec pause on my chest, ass on bench, no spotter, back flat and good symmetry no bouncing, and it was pretty easy. In other words, I bench press NOT bounce press so there's no dispute as to whether I did it or not. The guy that bet me BOUNCED 425 off his chest and said his chest hurt after that and he walked away holding it LOL!! I'm not sure what my max would be since I don't care to injure myself trying. I can't compare him with me because he bounces everything and I don't. Any guesses from your experience?

Congrats on the lift. I may have to call you something else other than K8 now cuz that is a man's size lift.

pm sent blueOval

Yea I am afraid of the bounce thing. I actually go very slow on my heavy reps. So slow in fact most say I can get well over 415 if I speed it up. But to me the control is more important. Plus I had weight fall on me before by hitting the return bracket going too fast. 305 on the chest is no fun.

Never bounce heavy weight off your chest. You get more of a full chest work out when you keep control & if you lower it all the way to your chest, You are putting alot of strain on your shoulders. Not good at all so keep up the good work N8. where do you hoop at? I hoop 3 days a week & work out after only 3 days aswell!! But I kill all of my work out eating pizza & burgers!!! LoL

Well I primarily hoop in Stockton 24hr since its where I live. but its summer now so I will be making my summers rounds. San Leandro 24hr, Hoop I Up, Cherry Park (in SJ), Alameda, Moss Wood... I love to hoop everywhere, this year my son will be coming w/me (I think he is ready).

Yes I go all the way down to my chest. I think it is cheating otherwise.

Ya when I was in college, several of us work-out buffs always competed with the ratios (bench:body weight).

In my prime in college, I was 190lbs and 335 was the max = 1.76

I did have a friend in college that was 5'3" and weighed 145lbs. The funny thing is his upper body was as big as everyone elses, lol. Just small legs and short. He was tossing up 3 wheels which gave him a ratio of 2.17! LOL

I will definitely. I used to hit up Bollinger at night. Day games were terrible. How old are you? Man in my prime I was a Cherry Park legend. back when it had the wooden backboards...lol (you may be too young to remember that). I'll hit you if I go to Bollinger as well.
