So, as some of you guys know, my 302 dropped a valve on the way to my clubs car show in Tracy Last year.
Due to losing my job, I didn't have the funds to rebuilt it, or finish my 351w I was building for my bronco.
Luckly, I made enough last year, to get some taxes back.
Well, being on a really tight budget, has made this really hard to do. I'm putting a 351W into a car that came with a 351C, and had a 302 put in it.
So this has been fun learning new things, and trying to make my old parts fit.
Problem number one was, when i took apart the 351 to freshen it up, i found 2 bent rods. I went and had all of them replaced, and rebalanced the motor.
Second problem was getting my tax return on time, to pay the machine guys.
Third, and this ended up being an ongoing problem, was lost hardware and parts. I've moved 2 times since tearing this motor down, so shit has gotten misplaced. very anoying.
Next, was my oil pan. i didn't even think about it untill I went to bolt on my high flow oil pump. it didn't clear, so i was like, well, stock one i go, untill i realized, the pan I had, was for the bronco, and fox bodies, not my '72. So I jumped on CL, and found a canton 9 qt oil pan for only $200, so i jumped on that quickly. But, that ended up being a problem also. The oil drain is on the rear of the pan, and that hits my cross member.............So to get the engine in for now, I have 6" long bolts, holding it in place, but it doesn't hold the motor down, so I can't really drive it.
next, and so far, the final problem, is my headers. I thought they were 351 headers, since they hung down so low off of my 302, but they wern't ![[Frown]](frown.gif)
So now I need 351 headers, so i can hook up my exhaust.
Good news is though, i got the motor started up and running today, on open headers-lol
here is the list of mods i did so far
I'm hoping for around 380 hp, and 425tq @ the flywheel, what do u guys think...
351 bored .30 over, crank is .10 under. Stock crank, and rods, hypernutetic flat top pistions. Compression should be around 9.5:1. World Sr heads with the 2.02 intake valve. Crane cams 1.6 full roller rockers. Comp cams .80 think push rods. Edlebrock performer RPM matching intake, cam, and valve springs. Holley 650 DP. Ford Racing 9mm wires with Iridium plugs. petronix flamethrower II matching coil and ignition kit. Full lenth headers, going to dumpped flows. G3 ford alt. AOD rebuilt to handle 500 hp and a B&M torque converter 3300 stall. 4.11 gears in a 9" rear. NOS powershot system (not hooked up yet, won't be for a while. )

Not to be an asshole but if you don"t have a job it might not be a good idea to spend your tax return fixing up your cars when you don't have an income.Seems like a nice project though and I hope you met your goals ![[patriot]](graemlins/patriot.gif)

I thought the same thing. But it is a good outlet for stress relief to keep your projects going. My hat goes off to you for making that decision. +2 for pics of the car and Bronco.

well basically it'd going to be my DD car, so I needed it all fixed up to drive it. I already had half the parts for the motor, just had to finish.

Still not done, but getting closer.
Both cars are fairly rough on the outside, I can get some pics of later though.
