Second I am sick of OAKLAND!!! Everytime we hear about some BS it's from "the town" and people want to say oh it's oakland, you don't understand cause you don't live there, oh there's a rift between police and the public in Oakland. STOP that BS!

city of oakland also includes the oakland hills. which have nothing but million dollor homes. the city of oakland also includes a rich in culture china town. the city also includes a very cool down town which hosts many many great business and houses many of the top end wealth who work in san francisco.

but just becuase the news said three bad things about oakland we should just assume anyone from oakland is a killer.

real smart. you should be proud of how much world knowledge you have.


remember the news old shows bad news becuase that is what sells.

and in my experience too many people who are wanta be ganstas rep that they are from oakland even when they have never steped foot inside the city limits.

I blame the useless GOVERNMENT for not staying on top of their game, what happened to the whole "protect and serve" attitude? Didnt the chief of police resign from Oakland recently? WHY?? Because even he was useless, hiring USELESS Police Officers, and now the streets are getting tough with USELESS CRIMINALS.


Clean up the streets, FIRE the useless Police Officers that aren't up to the challenge (some Officers are there doing their jobs)enforce the law, start sweeping criminals off the streets, run warrant checks, hire a dedicated investigator and lock up the thugs..

I once dated this half black and filipino chick that lived in Oakland and she was sooo hot. Had to let it go though, she was harder than me.

Second:

I can tell you that the Port of Oakland is a very, very intrical part of our lives as citizens of the California bay area.

Judging folks by the city they live in is just like judging them because of the color of their skin.

My family visits Oakland regularly. We like to go to china town in on Saturday mornings for produce, seafood, and dim sum. I have family that have lived in Montclair area for the past 40+ years and they have neighborhoods that anyone would want to live in. Tons of great eats and heck they even have Best Music which I have been shopping at for the past 15 years.

i love oakland just as much as many of the residents who reside there. i no longer live there but im there so much, its comfortable beacause i was raised there. i blame todays sinceless crimes and shootings on the younger generation, ive been robbed ,car jacked and had many cars stolen from me, right here in oakland. but i still come to 'the town' all the time. oaklanders are car crazy and some of the nicest cars are in oakland.the culture in oakland is like no other. we dont have bloods and crips but we do have guns and violence like no other. the side show was never meant to go outta controll like it is now.when i was young guys took their cars out and parked and chilled!now a days you can catch a bucket with crack babies driving in the side show.. and they have no care for nice cars or being in a controlled manner... all im want to say is i have no respect for senseless violence period! no matter what city state! but to say a whole city needs to be condemed is outrageous. lol [Confused]

Sounds like you know zero people from oakland. I wasn't going to get involved in this thread because its a dumb ass thread. If you put Oakland in a box, lets put all the rapist, child molestors and serial killers in a box. Guess what the profile of all of those are? white males 25-45 lives out side of the city limits. I personal would live in a city where you know what your neighbors are all about instead of living next to a child molestor. We have the Tracy incident, the Fremont incident where the man kill his whole family and himself and numberous and numberous accounts of children going to school killing 10+ people. Guess what city those where not in?

A lot of you sound like a bunch of high schoolers arguing over random crap, the truth is that criminals come in all races, shapes, and ages, and Oakland has a big problem right now it might be a beautiful place but as long as there's senseless crime happening people will talk bad about it and avoid it. I my self avoid going to Oakland as I have a daughter & wife and I won't put them in a city where the risk is greater than your typical neighborhood.

ha ha i have a good job also my friend but im from the hood. I also have a family and go to work everyday my branches are growing but i never forget about my roots. I also moved out of oakland but i can go back anytime and feel safe.

I partially agree since I also grew up in the hood, but it's hard to feel safe now a days since the crime is so spontaneous and random and lot of times people get murder because they were confused for someone else.

point of posting this is if you want to charactize Oakland residence, which i was one from 11-22, take a look at your own peers.

here are a few more things to look at, these are youth crime stats:

Drugs. According to the National Survey on Drug Use and Health, among youths aged 12 to 17, the rate of current illicit drug use was 11.1 % among whites, and 9.3% among African Americans. [5] In a previous year, the same survey found that white youth aged 12 to17 are more than a third more likely to have sold drugs than African American youth. [6] The Monitoring the Future Survey of high school seniors shows that white students annually use cocaine at 4.6 times the rate of African Americans students, use crack cocaine at 1.5 times the rate of African Americans students, and use heroin at the same rate of African Americans students, and that white youth report annual use of marijuana at a rate 46% higher than African American youth. [7] However African American youth are arrested for drug offenses at about twice the rate (African American 314 per 100,000, white 175 per 100,000) times that of whites, [8] and African American youth represent nearly half (48%) of all the youth incarcerated for a drug offense in the juvenile justice system. [9]

Weapons. According to the Center on Disease Control's annual Youth Risk Behavior Survey, in 2001 whites and African Americans reported similar rates of carrying a weapon (whites 17.9%, African Americans 15.2%), and similar rates of carrying a gun (whites 5.5%, and African Americans, 6.5%). [10] African American youth represent 32% of all weapons arrests, and were arrested for weapons offenses at a rate twice that of whites (69 per 100,000, versus 30 per 100,000). [11]

Assault. According to the Center on Disease Control's annual Youth Risk Behavior Survey, African Americans report being in a physical fight at a similar rate (36.5%, versus 32.5% for whites), but were arrested for aggravated assault at a rate nearly three times that of whites (137 per 100,000, versus 48 per 100,000).

being from oakland isnt a direct connection with being tough...i have no reason to go to oakland...check crime rates in my city where i choose to live..martinez....see how many muders go on here yearly check the crime rate toughie...get some facts on where im from....im proud to say my "hood" is safe opposed to you gotta wtch ya back in my town cuz lol....oh well you wont get it...my kids play in the yard and i dont worry about getting gunned down...ect..

might not need to worry about them getting gunned down but there are other things that could happen in your neighbor, your stats about the amount of blacks in prison are both true and false. Blacks are prosecuted for crimes others get passes via the stats I previously posted. When you talk about Oakland and refers to it as a welfare city, that is being racial.

You can choose to live anywhere you want not everyone in Oakland can. The ghetto was created so that those who cannot afford to live in martinez and other areas, are enclosed to fiend for themselves and to keep them out of your neighborhood. Instead of bringing soo much negative attitude towards Oakland, do something productive to help.

I am multi-racial and lived in many places. from L.A., SAn Rafael, benicia to vallejo but i always feel more at home in Oakland because of my own experiences growing up there and the diversity it has to offer.

I don't know how your words got twisted when you said Oakland should be blown up and 97% of its residence are low lifes

You have nothing to do with oakland if your not willing to be part of the solution then keep out i myself live in belmont which has even half the crime rate of your martinez. Do not try to make the city i was raised in (OAKLAND) seem inferior to any city because it is beautiful. You have never cruised the lake with your system up never enjoyed the sideshow when it was cranking in the past, and never had the chance to go to a coliseum in your city to root for your home team win or lose.Oakland is struggling but dont judge someone till you walked a mile in their shoes. BTW we do not deserve to be blown up cus just like those officers who died in service we are all people aka HUMAN.

Who cares if they were black or white let's just leave race out of it. Same with the cops, most of the cops in Oakland are good cops. Just like most people(black or white...) in Oakland are good people. I wish they could get rid of all the bad people in Oakland and let the good people have their city back.

Moreover i think he was trying to comment on the moral decay of the city at large. It pains me to see the entire city riot when a police officer shoots someone, while not a finger is lifted when 3 innocent youths are injured in the crossfire from crime activity in the area.

Why or how could you classify a whole city on account of the actions of a group of people that are by far the minority (and I do not mean in the ethnic or racial sense)?

Could be +/- 1% this year. That still caps Oakland at about close to 400k people. Now you are gonna sit up here and classify those 400k by the actions of at best (and I am being generous) a couple thousand? You just do not know how ignorant that sounds.

On the flip side, I am glad I speak with intelligence and respect on these boards. I rarely say things I would not say to a person face to face. You make this claim to the wrong person at the wrong time and your head could get flown. I know you may have been speaking figuratively, but it just came across bad to me.

n8,anyone who could rally behind a murderer molester(mixon),anyone who could not come forward with info on who shot the poor children,ect...i do not want to get to know.

on a note. if my mom did any of the things noted above shed be in the same catergory in my eyes.

everyday there is a senseless murder in oaklnd,someones son,father friend ect looses a life. no1 ever comes forward and speaks with police because they do not want to snitch. in reality they may be the next victim because they enable those type of people to stay on the street

I coached Midnight league basketball, I mentored kids, Sponsored kids to go on recruiting trips, science fairs....All kinds of stuff. And it is starting to come back around. One kid I was involved with mentoring and coaching signed a letter of intent to West Virginia Univ. And he credits me with providing the groundwork for him (although he worked hard on his own, I just provided a avenue for him to express himself and stay focused). And all this despite the fact I have 5 of my own kids to raise. My point is. It is hella easy to sit on a perch and talk smack about the next man. But get down there and try to do something about it walk their walk and see there view. Then you will see there is much more good going on in Oakland than the news is giving to you.

Bachelors Degree here and several certifications. So I would love to see that happen as well. Or maybe walk around seminary and tell the first 50 people you come across that same thing. [patriot]

A high school diploma is irrelevant at this point. I am a product of oakland public schools and speak with proper grammar when I please. If I wanted to I could get real ghetto and bring the thunder at the same time. There is no need to categorize an entire city. Lets make one thing clear you would never go to Oakland and speak your mind.You are comfortable behind your keyboard and that is your problem. There are plenty of people in Oakland who are more educated and far more intelligent then yourself. It is true people get murdered in Oakland and bystanders get hit in the crossfire.Just because some refuse to live in fear it doesn't mean they deserve to be bombed. In my eyes those who chose not to leave their community are far more admirable than yourself.

ive owned more mustangs than you probably have seen, ive been on here far longer than any of the lames posting(previous screen names ive used before switching comps).
