i got an ASUS EEE PC. Its pretty nice. i am having issues with it though that are bugging me. It was the display one at BestBuy and they restored it for me before i bought it. One issue i am having is it won't do a windows update, keeps having some error while trying to dowwnloading Software update 898461. Not sure whats going on with it but i have a real copy of Windows XP SP2 and i am thinking of redoing the entire OS. It doesn't have a disc drive though so i am using my external drive on it and i haven't ever reloaded an SO from an external drive before.

Before you wipe it clean with a disk, make sure it does not have a built in restore utility. With a certain button combination you can restore it to the factory settings. But if you do it with the CD you are essentially formatting it, so you would lose that. Also if you do it with the cd, make sure you have all the drivers and side programs you will need, backed up and or on a CD.

yeah i don't have any of those. Geek Squad were supposed to have restored it for me before i purchased it so it should be working like new. Still won't let me do the windows update though and i have tried doing it manually too and it won't install. i think tonight i might load Win XP SP2. SP3 sucks.

I've always hated the junk that comes with any new laptop/pc's.
First thing i always do is format the whole system with a fresh OS, this way it makes me feel alot better

That restore thing saved my buns a couple of times. But I buy all my computers from Dell. But yea the other bloat-ware gets axed soon as I turn the comp on.

yeah i usually uninstall that crap or run a new OS but since i just bought the thing and it was the display model i want to be cautious at first with it. I took it back to them and they are going to fix it for free.
