I went to pay my back registration today and get a temporary tag to get my car smogged at a AAA store and I was told as of January 1, 2009 DMV no longer issues them. They told me they now only offer one or two day stickers. Has anybody heard this, or know a way around this to obtain a temporary tag?

Yeah man the rules have changed. People have been abusing the temporary reg tag & the state is in need of money. I don't wrk in the field offices or reg unit anymore but I believe now they charge a fee for a temporary tag. In the area of $50. I think now all they give is a moving permit long enough for u to go get it smogged & make it back 2 dmv. So if u want a temporary tag its gonna cost u unless u get lucky.

its true that they now charge $50, but i just got another temporary tag from dmv because i told them that the smog wasnt done yet, I told them the shop released the car to me and they are waiting for a part to come in.
she asked me what part so i quickly said IACV and something for the exhaust and she gave me a number 2 sticker. there hella bigger now.
