Just reviewed my chase credit card statement and was amazed at the change in interest rate. I have been 7.99% interest rate for the past 4 years. I look at my statement and now it is 14.99%. I call up there hotline and get some dumb Indian bitch and she said I have an adjustable rate. I said a 7 point fucking jump is not how much the fed prime rate went up this month compared to last month. Dumb broad replies it varies month to month and that I am wrong. So I tell the cunt to relax for one minute and look up the federal prime rate history. Current rate 3.25% an all-time low. So I tell this dumb bitch the fed rate is at an all time low and dropped since last month so How the fuck did you raise my interest rate 7 points. Dumb cunt had no idea and said I must have incorrect information. I asked to be transferred to a supervisor. Supervisor gets on the line and says all Citi variable rates have been changed from whatever rate they were to prime +10.49% at a minimum. I say are you fucking serious. I have never been delinquent or anything. She replies with yes and your account is in good standing. We go back and forth about how that has to be illegal and she says no it has already been tried in the Supreme Court. I ask if there is anything she can do. She says yes. Prime +10.00%. I am like fuck this close the account here is an account you can take the money out of. She says wait we have an offer where we can put all your balances at 1.99% apr for a year. I say great please do that.
Moral of the story watch your accounts because they can raise your interest rate to prime plus whatever they want.
Fuck the credit card companies.

She was Indian or Hindu. i was deffinetly sent to a call center overseas. And the dumb cunt comment would have been applied to any race that answered the phone and told me the FED prime rate had fluctuated 7 pointsd in one month.

14.99% wow thats still good, my wifes CC just raised her interest to 28% + and not only one all of them (she has perfect credit). Ya we just closed everything and opened new accounts.

the moral of the story is to not carry a balance on your cc. only time i carry a balance on my cc is if i have a 0% interest for 1 year or more...no cc debt ftw!!!!

American Express just increased mine from 6.99 to 9.99 and would budge when I called them on it. I have never been late and have been with them for 8 years.

I used to think this way, But it is better to carry a small balance and show that payments are made on time to help your credit score.

yup my wifes just got here statement we had also a 7.99 intrest rate. an now we got it in the mail an now its a 16.99 . they told her they are doing it to pay their loans or something to that line. they told she can opp out. which means the next expiration date ur card will cancel at that date. said if we did that the balance would still be at the rate of 7.99. so we did.. STUPID AS HELL

Just go my letter in the mail saying that my 9.99% rate is going up to 17.9% if I dont opt out within 15 days. Needless to say that credit card is getting canceled asap, especially since I owe quite a bit on it LOL!!!
The downside is, u NEED a credit card nowadays for certain things like car rentals etc...
