I own two this sig
and a Walther P99 in .40 Cal. Love them both, depends on what you want it for. For home protection, get a Remy 870 shotgun! Nothing works better for the home! If you want something to shoot for fun get a SIG! Love them!
Check out www.Calguns.net good people who know tons about guns!

Hope there aren't too many "gun snobs" on here, but I went with a Hi-Point C9 compact as a "go to the range" gun. Out of the 10,000+ rounds I've put through it, I've NEVER had any jams or problems what so ever. Only issue I see with it is it only holds 8+1 or 10+1 rounds, but that's not really a problem if you are any good at shooting and know where to hit the target.
Point being, $180 for the pistol, no questions asked lifetime warranty no matter if you're the first, second twentieth owner, and it holds it's own with any of the afore-mentioned pistols above. [ January 06, 2009, 05:43 PM: Message edited by: MustangNate ]

Yup, gun snob here but I dont care what other people shoot lol. I just like the feel of the 1911 Kimber's, especially with a 3 1/2lb trigger pull.
That or a glock 22....talk about a reliable gun.

Crap pictures, but I own this Sig P229 .40 cal

I also own this Walther PPK/S .380

For home defense I also have a Remington 870!
Yesterday, I got to choose between a Sig P226 9mm, P226 .40 cal, and P239 9mm. I chose the P239 because the smaller frame fits in my hand better, but now I am thinking I want to change to a P226 9mm. [ January 06, 2009, 06:42 PM: Message edited by: rgtrahn ]

I just picked up this bad-boy Monday.

I do have a couple of other non-pimptastic guns too. What's your price range? For sub-$200 you can't beat the Hi-point C9. They're pretty reliable and have a lifetime warranty, no questions asked. If you've got $600, I'd suggest the Sig 226. There isn't a nicer handgun for the money. If you have $1000+ definately get a Kimber 1911. They are SWEEET!!!

Love my para .45 but my XD's are the gun I recommend to everyone. For the money its the most reliable best performing gun I have ever shot. I have over 30k rounds through my xd service model in .40 and still have yet to have a failure.

SIGS are expensive, but so worth every penny! Great weapon!
You also may want to check out the berreta storm. I hear its a nice gun for the money!
Glock is also a great gun for the money! LC Action in San Jose has Glock days now and then. Check them out! www.lcaction.com
Para makes a nice weapon as well! The para warthawg is super tiny! But holy, 10 x .45 rounds in a 3" gun! Dont want to shoot it all day long though!
Good Luck, John
