I know Hagerty and Grundy offer "Collector Car" Insurance. They'll insure it for you. I know a few hot rods that are insured and continue to use both of them.

I've looked at those "stated value" policies and they are so expensive, you pay the entire value of the car in about 10 years.

We have a customer with a 91 Fox Body, original owner with 70k miles. The car is absolutely immaculate, show room new. We installed a 347, upgraded clutch etc. He had the car insured through Hagerty and it's covered for 20k. This was done within the last month.

grundy collector car insurance...my 97 is insured for 15k under them. pay about $300 a year more or less, 0 deductable, unlimited miles.
there are restrictions however such as not being able to use the car for work...basically it would be a pleasure car if u used collector car insurance.

so lets say i wanted the fox covered for 15-20k, do i need to get it looked at by the insurance 1st? do they add up all my recipts? or just go by what i tell them?

I had my old 94 insured with farmers and took them all my reciept and had them look at my car. they insured it more and when my car got stolen I was prety happy with what I got!

well for grundy, all u need to do is provide pics of the car as well as a list of what it has. your premium will be based on the declared value.

wow I just ran a quote for my 89 at $10k stated and it said $172/year
Do they cover you if something happens while you're at a track, like a road race track during a driving event (not a timed competition) ?

:
i believe with grundy if the car is driven on a road course/track the insurance will be void.

Unfortunately not. The policy I have on my 57 and 94 vert is that it can only be driven too and from shows and cruises. Limited miles under 10k miles. It is super cheap. Less than 200 for both a year. I think its 75 for my mustang and 125 for the Chevy.

Yeah the ones I talked to were for daily driver insurance. Very expensive.
