im looking for some info on performance, right now i have a 302, i know there are alot of aftermarket performance parts at a cheap price. But im looking to buy a 98 cobra, i know performance parts are expensive! i debating on dumping money on my 94, or selling it and getting a modular

stock vs stock a 4v modular is much better
modded, I'd prefer to start with a pushrod, throw $2k at it and have 400rwhp, where 2k on a mod motor will get you a box of parts

put 2k in my cobra it'll make some nice hp just look at the base start a car that go's high 14's low 15's stock or a car that go's mid 13's bone stock.

Depends on what you are lookin' for. If you get a 98' Cobra you are starting with a 300hp motor, good brakes, and a decent suspension. However, to get serious HP out of it you will need a blower, nitrous, or a shit load of cash if you wanna stay NA.
You have more power options for your 94 but will spend a bit of money to get it to where a 98 cobra would be stock.
I would get the cobra, throw a blower on it and call it good.

I really hope your including a nitrous system in there at that figure??? Because there is NO WAY that you can come even close to 400anything for $2k

I got an s-trim kit for $800 and trick flow TW heads with a trick flow stage 1 cam and an edelbrock performer intake setup for $1k.
Wasn't that hard to find a good deal on good condition stuff.

Maybe in this economy, but even you must admit that you hit the parts lottery with those prices on good, useable parts!

That is what you think, right now.
Trust me, I have been there and done that.
The ONLY way you will get that is to find someone that abandoned their turbo windsor project and is selling in this economy, right now.
I sold my turbo and my hot parts, minus the downpipe for $950.
That still leaves fuel and air delivery and
Fuel,Air,Spark systems along with tuning them.
Dont get me wrong, with DIY you can come close to 2K but look at TURBOGTs car he had a stock motor with 60lbs and a single turbo make 420 to the wheels and go 11s BUT that was with an aftermarket stand alone system.
I am sure he was over 2K and he did not even touch the internals.

My recipe for that kind of power would be as follows:
low mileage, good running 87-95 5.0 shortblock.
used aftermarket pedestal mount aluminum heads or stud mount, selling with rockers >900
used aftermarket cam >100
used aftermarket intake >300
used WET nitrous system. >500
used in line pump >100
used in tank pump. >100
Better do the work yourself and have the hookup on fluids and gaskets.
Also better tune the nitrous fat if using the stock MAF/T/B and injector with the H/C/I.

Yep and all that has to factor in, which is always overlooked.
Ima put out a challenge to anyone that thinks they can put together a 400rwhp combo for 2k start to finish with ALL necasary parts. Oh and it has to be done legally
I would pay for the dyno time to see this happen, otherwise you eat the costs!!!

I don't think it can be done, personally.

After all of that said an done....get the cobra Put your basic little bolt ons an be in the 12's... put a blower with low boost an be in the 11's its all up to you though. Or get down an dirty take the heads an intake off send them in to get ported an polished slap them back in with some stage 1 cams gain of about (80hp says m.m.r).
