I AM LOOKING TO REBUILD MY REAR END AND I HAVE A 86 COUPE WITH 351W SVO BLOCK AND HEADS AND A TREMEC TKO TRANNY.I WAS ORIGINALLY GOING TO PUT 355'S IN BUT NOW THINKING OF 373'S.I ALSO HAVE QA1 KMEMBER A ARMS AND COILOVERS WITH UPPER AND LOWER REAR CONTROL ARMS.I DO WANT TO TAKE THIS CAR TO THE TRACK BUT I ALSO LIKE DRIVING IT ON THE WEEKENDS.MY FRIEND HAS A REAR END FROM A 98 COBRA,I WAS THINKING OF SWITCHING THE INSIDES TO MY SN95 REAREND.

If your original thought is for 3.55's then go 3.73's if your original thought is for 3.73's then go 4.10's and so on.

If you're staying NA, go 3.73s...3.55s for a blown setup. If you drive it alot, stick with 3.55s...you won't regret it. Only difference between a Cobra and SN95 rear is the brakes, most gear ratios are already 3.27s.

+1 on 3.73, not like your car is a gas saveer anyway, plus johnb knows his shit, i've known him for a while now, never leads me in the wrong direction, you'll be happy with the 3.73

I have a similar setup and I don't like my 3.73s, it revs way to quickly to make any use of the bottom end torque. Gears are just torque multipliers. If you have a low end/high torque 351w, you don't necessarily need more gear to rev through the RPMs quickly, you already have it in your engine. With that said, I would say the final decision would depend on your engine setup.

where does your engine make power rpm wise because the gears are going to be two diferent animals as far as street tires around town and slicks at the track

If u do alot of freeway then i'd go 3.55's. just had my 3.73's put in by john b & i kinda regret not taking his advice on 3.55's since the car is a driver/cruiser. feels nice, but the rpm's are a little high with my freeway cruising speed
