Can you put 275/40/17's on the front of a foxbody that won't be lowered without rub?

BTW I have SN95 spindles.

I wanted to go 275 in the front because I'm definitely doing 275 in the back and I wanted the tire size to be the same all around. But if that won't work I can do 255's in the front. I figure if it's possible why not?

go with 255 up front 275 in the rear there is a reason why all the worlds top sports cars have smaller up front and bigger in the rear.

Also I might add you will wear out your powersteering pump very fast with all that rubber up front. Basically you want a responsive nimble handling car that you can turn quick in 255's are as big as you wanna go especially if you are running a 17x9 wheel 245 do not look good the side wall stretches looks like shit my buddy and I found out on his 95 stang 255's up front and 275's work great even on a foxbody seen them before with 95 cobra R's. Have fun!

+1 [patriot] You may be able to get away with 255's but it will be tight.

for a fox i say 245 or 255 front and 275 rear.

What exactly do our mustangs have in common with "all the worlds top sports cars"? Not a whole lot. For one the weight distribution on our cars in stock form is terrible. Running 255/275 combo increases the nose heavy mustang's tendency to understeer.

To answer the question. Yes you can run 275s in the front of a fox, but it will take a lot of fender modification. I'm running 255s on 17X9 all around with 96+ spindles and an MM k member which offsets the front wheels forward .75". To make this work the front fender extensions were trimmed and the fenders were rolled. I have a lot of clearance and I should get away with 275s in the front by just pushing the front fender extension out. We will see this winter.

I am using a 245/40/18 with a Griggs K.

The Griggs k pushes each front wheel forward 1.5" and out 0.25" per side.

It was NOT easy to get everything to fit with a 25.7" tire, but I managed it.

LOTS OF WORK!

You can't say a 255f-275r combo will increase understeer on a mustang without knowing exactly what combo is being run...I ran 1.5+ negative camber on some sticky 245's and had oversteer problems with 275's on the back....All stock Mustangs understeer, then over steer with power on...The front sway bar is way too big for stock applications, because "understeering is safer"...That's like the fags at the tire shop that tell me to put the good tires on the back, cause it's "better"....Why?..The front does all the braking and steering, I can handle the oversteer!....

What about unsprung weight on some big ass wheels to fit 275's on properly?...What about the tire fold trying to corner with a 275 on an 8" wide wheel?...What about the brakes needed to properly stop a wheel with 275's up front?? [Roll Eyes]

Putting 275's up front just so you can rotate your tires is a bad idea....I think we need more info to give you better advise.... [patriot]

I saw a great difference in handling when I added 275 infront over the 245 but I also have maximum motorsports suspension and cobra brakes on the 86 coupe
